We made our annual trip to Assateague Island for Easter.[:)]  HersheyGirl and DiW both joined us there.  We got there about 1130 PM on the 16th and got set up without any problems.  About 2 AM the wind started blowing and blew a steady 30 mph until the middle of the next night.[:@]  We had rain, wind and highs of about 50 degrees for the whole trip, but we were camping.[:)]  The first trip is done and we have 5 nights in the PU to get the camping fever out of our systems.

tlhdocWe enjoyed our trip but sure wished it could have been warmer. Luckily we got there early Wed and enjoyed that day on the beach and a nice sunset. Went to bed thinking this is the life. Until the winds started. Did I say Kelsey and I were tenting it? Around 3 or 4am, she said she preferred the popup and couldn t wait for our gang to arrive with it.

Beckie, you missed out. This morning (Mon) there was no wind. We took a 7am walk on the beach and it was the best morning of the trip. Got a little breezy while we were closing down but not too bad (Courtney took an outside COLD shower while we were closing down). As usual, we didn t head out until checkout time (12noon). Sunday was nice too. After church, we spent the day riding bikes on the Ocean City boardwalk and doing all the other touristy things, like rides, haunted house, taffy, mini golf, etc. Sure was glad we didn t stay there though. Assateague was so much nicer.

Andy, thanks for convincing Chris to turn the camper away from the wind. Was nice to be able to open/close the door.

tlhdocWell tlhdoc, sounds like our fist outing also. As you say it is camping. I look for it to get better soon. I hope, next outing is 1 May in PA. Four nights and it better be warm this time or I am coming back home.... It was cold last time out. In the upper 30 s. [&:]

tlhdocGlad to hear you made it Tracy!  And that your DS must have been feeling better!

BTW, the camping fever doesn t ever get out of your system [;)]

tlhdoc

tlhdocHe still has not recovered completely, but he is doing much better.  DH took him to the doctor before we left.  He said it is a virus and there is nothing we can do but wait.

DiW

tlhdocSo glad the first trip of the season is over. Now the camper is all stocked and ready to go for the next trip (COTOC s North-South Lake trip). Tracy, I have my popup up in the driveway. Just like looking at it [:D]. Figured the canvas was probably a bit moist from all that ocean air. Will wash down the canvas in the next day or so. First time camping in it at the ocean - glad I didn t bother washing it before the trip. Hope you made it home in time for baseball practice and that Jon is feeling better soon.

tlhdocWe made it home in time for practice, but I was too tired to take him.  How is Jason doing?

DiW

tlhdocJason ended the trip with 2 days of fun so that put him in a good mood. Got home and inspected his infection (spine). Finally, after 4-5 weeks it seems to be doing better (no pus [: (]) but looks like it won t heal until that stitch is removed. Need to deal with the neurosurgeon about getting some OR time scheduled.  The insurance company is going to be a problem I fear. I m not in a rush to have him under anesthesia because he s all congested, runny nose, red itchy eyes, etc. I thought he was getting sick but now I think it s just allergies. I remember Paula saying how better being at the beach is. He was fine until we got back to NJ.

tlhdocDi my allergies are worse now that I am back home too.  I am glad the infection is clearing up.

copcarguy

tlhdocWOW!!  A COTOC trip that included rain, winds and clearing once it was time to head home - who would ve thought????  [&:]  Glad to hear that everyone got that first trip done.  I m really looking forward to our May trip.  I posted in the COTOC area about a potluck - please check it out and let me know.

PS - Di:  tell Chris I have my eye on an  88 Diplomat, 5.2L HO, all re-done 9 months ago (new paint, mechanicals, interior).  Trying to convince Stephie that we NEED this car.  Just waiting for her OK.  LOLOL  [;)]

tlhdoc

tlhdocRick bring your wet weather gear.[:D]  You do not need another car!  You are building your home.  NO CAR.

copcarguy

tlhdocOh man.....  now I am getting that HERE too.[&:][8D]  Tracy, I am addicted...  Stephie always said she never worries about me cheating on her - if she couldn t find me she d just look in the driveway.  [:)]

tlhdoc

tlhdocYou have picked a smart woman.[:D]
