Ernhrts3n8After all the input, I think we will take a ride to the Larger Walmart. Thanks for input

Mahaffey-Family

whitestar505I went to K-Mart.  I went with 2 -4 pcs. servings, so I could feed 8 people if needed.  The brand  Martha Stewart non-Breakable in green and white.

Gamecock Camper

whitestar505We use mostly paper.  They are not breakable and give the cook/dishwasher (me) a break.

wssfetch

whitestar505Both Target and Bed,Bath and Beyond have cute Melamine picnicware out on display that you can buy by the piece.

 I use paper plates myself.

PI

whitestar505I had bought some Melamine plates at Walmart. They are yellow trim with little different colored bugs all over them. I bought plastic cups to match . I did use alcohol to remove the sticker glue and ruined the cups. I had also bought a serving platter to match. They were all seperate pieces. Mostly we use paper plates and the plastic throw away cups.

whitestar505We went with Corelle ware for our popup.  It will take quite a bit of abuse before breaking and can be used in the microwave.

In my bachelor days, I had a room mate drop one from a load that had just finshed washing and drying in the dishwasher, what a mess.  Same plate at room temperature can survive a similar fall.

We purchased the set for the popup off eBay for very little money.  I was part of an estate sale.  Pattern has been discontinued.

Corelle have a website showing current patterns: http://www.corelle.com/

Its much more enviromentally friendly than paper or plastic.  Yes all three need engery in their manufacture, etc.  Paper and plastic require resources for their disposal, etc.
