OC Campers

We went to this RV park last weekend for a church campout.  We were pleasantly surprised how nice it was.  When we pulled off the freeway, we thought uh oh, it is in the middle of town.  It is set in a canyon below homes.

The streets were paved, the pads were cement.  Lots of green grass.  You can t pitch tents on the grass because of the sprinklers but they had dirt pads for tents to sit on.  Some sites were pull thru.  Most if not all sites were full hookups.  They also have tent sites available.  Available too are Kamper Kabins.  From what I understood a 2 room cabin was $45 a night (you do use cg restrooms like the RVers do).  Lots of shade trees.  The only draw back is the sites are a little close together but we didn t feel boxed in being next to one of those " hotels on wheels"

Lots of things to do.  The shuttle bus ran right thru the CG to take you to the trolley station.  There is a pool, jacuzzi, game room, reasonably priced bike rentals (like the 4 seater ones that everyone pedals), horeshoe pits, playground, propane and a camp store.  All the KOA staff members were very nice.  Also, there were nice clean restrooms with free hot showers.

This was a very nice park.  One of our friends who stays at KOA s often stated this is one of the nicest KOA s they have ever stayed at.  We will return again.

Check out the photo gallery; photo 7 is of a pop-up!  [:D]

Jacqui, how close was this cg to the different things to do in SD, like Sea World, Wild Animal Park, SD Zoo, etc?  Would it be useful as a home base for seeing those attractions, or would you be better off at Campland by the Sea?

OC Campers

OC CampersI think this park could be a nice alternative to Campland by the Bay.  Of course it is in-land.  ( I would say it is 10-15 miles from the major attractions--I think, maybe  closer)  It is also about 1/2 the price of Campland.  We paid less because we were in a group but I think the regular cost is between $30-$40.  They also have shuttle service to the trolley station, so you don t have to drive to the attractions if you don t want to.  Now, we didn t use the shuttle or the trolley so I don t know how good an idea it is but it is an option.

I have never stayed at Campland (we are going this 4th of July) and from what I have been told they have lots of things to do so I guess it depends on what your family likes. IMHO my kids had a blast here, even without going to the local attractions.

Also, I just wanted to say that this is the first campground we have been to that there have been a lot of popups.  Out of 270 spaces, there were about 15 popups.
