Ok, my wife and I were having lunch today and I came up with this one... My wife is intent on placing yet another birthday in the dreaded August / October months, that I always confuse.. (the months.. I, for some reason, just can never get them straight.. And she wants to be induced a week early.. She is due September 2nd)

Sooooo.. I kinda joked about calling her August so I could remember when she was born [:D] Yet, now we both kinda like the name.... August ???? Thomas. Does this just sound weird? Will our daughter find out someday the only reason for her name is that her father has seasonal dyslexia??

Ohhh... How about " Rayne"  for a middle name?? " August Rayne"  hee hee... [:D]
Nawh, sounds too " hippieish"  But I still like August.. [:)]

 Thoughts, rants????

stoichie

Firefyter-EmtWhy not.   I once taught a Summer Time Love.  No joke.

How about Renee for the middle name?  Or Rochelle?

Firefyter-EmtThe only August that I have ever heard of have been boys names.  My son was born on Sept 2, 1991.  As a matter of fact it was Labor Day and his labor was very kind only 4 1/2 hours from start to finish.  Good luck!

Firefyter-EmtDon t forget what the initials would be.  August Renee Thomas would be ART.  I d avoid Charlotte...ACT.  AFT is an abbreviation for after.  ALT sounds like a computer key, and is an abbreviation for Alternate.  AMT is an abbreviation for amount.  ANT is a bug.  APT is apt to be abused.  AST must be avoided at all costs.  ATT is a telephone company.

Whatever you do, don t use August for a middle name...BAT, CAT, FAT, HAT, KAT, MAT, PAT, RAT, SAT, TAT, VAT...don t let him do it, Andrea

And watch out if he comes up with something like Emily Melissa...that would make her EMT...Firefyter s EMT.

Hey - those are my initials!!!  [&:]  I can tell we are thinking the same, because as soon as we think of a name, I immediately figure out the initials!  I wouldn t want her to be stuck with some like my poor sister, who s are STD! [;)]  That girl can t wait to get married!

g-whiz

Firefyter-EmtPersonally, I love August Rayne for a girl s name and if ART are the initials, that s not bad at all.  I had a friend that named her children for the month s they were born in.... January, May and April (in that order).  I m glad she didn t have one in March! [;)] I wanted to name my own children after flowers... like Daisy, Rose and William (Sweet William), however, my idea got shot down.  I don t know why because they would have had a Mum and a Poppy!  Firefyter-EmtI like August Rayne! (Holly isn t here, so it is just me voting for August Rayne).

Firefyter-EmtI still like Heather Rochelle.....that is our daughters name. Her friend just had a baby and named her Sierra Roseanna. I also like Michaela or Olivia, Mckenzie....Good Luck!

Gatsmommy

Firefyter-EmtHEY!!!!  What s wrong with _AT as middle and last initials???? You just need the right first name....Like a G name......DS ( Glenn Adrian) is GAT I  If we have a girl it will be GAT II (Genevieve Amanda) .

OK No we didn t do this purposly, but decided on the names when I was preg with DS and didn t relize the initals were the same till a month or so later. And since DH and I can NEVER decide on a name the Girl name is staying the same this time....now to think of a new boy name......

 Firefyter-EmtAugust Elizabeth Thomas

 August Leigh Thomas

Could wait until she is born and when you look at her a name may just pop in your head.

Had friends that were told they were having a boy, from then on they called him by name.  When the baby was born it was a girl, they said it was like someone was missing from the family when they did not have anyone by that name in the family any more.  But they were very thankful and happy to have a healthy baby and spoil her rotten.

 Firefyter-EmtAugust Maize Thomas?

 August Dawn Thomas

Although I do like the name August... one thing that I have seen recommended is to avoid naming your child with a name that ends with the same letter as that your last name begins with. It can make pronunciation difficult.

August Thomas can end up sounding like Augus Thomas
Alison Nemeth can end up sounding like Alice Anemeth
Thomas Saunders can end up sounding like Tomma Saunders.   See what I mean?

Jeffrey

Firefyter-EmtWent to Babynames.com and searched for August.
 Here is what it says.....................

 AUGUST
 Gender: Male
 Meaning: Revered, Exalted
 Origin: German

Used for children born in this month. From the name AUGUSTUS.
