JemJen24Starcraft dad...YOU RE RIGHT!!! What the heck is going on with that?  grrrrrrr,  lemme go see if I can fix it.  How strange!

JemJen24Frontpage is a wonderful application for novice website creators.  I used it for the first incarnation of my site, and it was wonderfully simple to link all the pages together.  I built everything in the flow chart view mode, linking new pages easily into the system.  I liked how it built all the side bar menus and banner pages for me.

The BAD thing about Frontpage is that if you ever decide to move up to a more professional level site creation software, like GoLive or DreamWeaver, all the crummy custom HTML elements that Microsoft shoves into your site make it VERY difficult to reuse the pages.

While GoLive can import a Frontpage site, cleaning it all up is murder.   I ve been reduced to copying the text and the tables containing my pictures into each new page I put up.   And considering the number of pages I have...it s taken quite some time!

Good luck on the site, Jen!

JemJen24Praise the Lord...I figured it out!  I had folders.  Each folder had about 10 pics of different trips and the pictures in each folder were titled

 000.jpg
 001.jpg
 002.jpg

and so on.  Since I had those same file names in 4 different folders, the system couldn t figure out which 001.JPG I was trying to use.

Simple solution...rename the pictures to their own personal file name.

Now I just have to go back in and add text, but that ll have to wait till this weekend.

Thanks for the catch, Starcraft Dad!!!

Tim...I used your counter, and it worked.  Thanks for the info!!!!

Oh...and I bought my Frontpage 2002 at The Gamestop.  Seems they were clearancing their office section.

JemJen24Oh...forgot to ask....If I upload myimages to my webhost, I CAN delete the image files from my computer, right?

Just want to make sure that this won t interfere whenever I upload changes to the website.

Starcraft Dad

JemJen24I delete my images when I have uploaded to my host and there is no problem.  As long as you don t want to use them in the future.

Tim5055

JemJen24I do the exact oposite, I save everything.  Should the webhost have a failure and loose teh server, I still have all my files on my computer.

Plus, using FrontPage, if you delete it on your end it will want to take it off the server everytime you publish.

Tim5055

tim5055Oops, that was END.  Typing too fast

But, let me be more specific...

When using FrontPage  if you select a picture from a ditectory (folder) on your computer FrontPage will copy it from the folder to the " web"  folder on your computer.  You can delete it from the original folder, just dont delete it from the " web"  folder.
