jeanne7566It is difficult to distinguish batteries on the Interstate web site as they rate ALL batteries with CCA (Cold Cranking Amps).

With that said, instead of one SRM-4D ((Deep Cycle) 1314CCA 390RC I might look at 2 SRM-27B 675CCA 180RC each.  This will save you 10 pounds and unless the price is great on the SRM-4D, I bet 2 27B would save you money also.

Well, all I can tell you is that it is listed as a Marine R/V - 30 Months - battery.

Hey guys I am not trying to sell you the battery. Just seen it on the web, that all.
Coming down hard are we. Must of been a long weekend campin.

Not coming down hard, just pointing out that you are better off with a true deep cycle battery, instead of a starting battery.

tlhdocOkay, Now to look into Kathy s problem. She might want to buy a battery like she has already and put them in parallel which would help out a great deal provided her current battery is not dead.

jeanne7566Current battery is fine. We didn t charge it under our normal routine because of the camper being at he dealer up until we were ready to leave for the trip. It s been on the charger and it s good to go now, for our next trip.

This past weekend was the first trip we ve taken where we had the furnace on at night while dry camping. Unfortunately, with the camper sitting at the dealer and the battery being connected for the entire month, it didn t get the proper charging it should have.

We re getting another battery like the one we have now, but we will charge it and store it in the camper and follow a regular charging routine with it. With two propane tanks on the tongue and the one battery, there s no place for another battery there.

That should set us up very well.

I keep thinking there is, but I haven t gotten around to working out the details yet.  I do know that there is not room with the normal Grp 27 coleman battery trays.  I have two tanks and two Grp 24 batteries.

jeanne7566I ve seen deep cycle batteries at Costco & Sam s at real good prices.

Yup, hubby says the same thing.

Maybe we ll figure it out soon!

I keep thinking the solution is to mount the two Grp 24 batteries side by side front to back.

 oldmoosewynot-

I m wondering if the friction pads for the Reese 350 will interfere with trying to squeeze another battery on that tongue.

We had to cut back the rails that the battery sits in to accomodate the friction pad brackets. But there seems to be room between the battery and the two propane tanks that isn t utilized.

If the battery is turned long way-front to back on the tongue, it does look like there s enough room to put another one next to it.

Eventually, that may be the way we go.

oldmooseI ve only looked at the Reese mini350 a couple of times installed, so I only have a dim recollection of where it mounts, but I think I know what you mean.

I have come to two immediate conclusions.  Staggered side by side front to rear orientation slightly off the right side of the A frame or hanging somewhat off the right side of the A frame one behind the other.

I have an additional challenge, I mount our daughter s bike upright between the battery and LP tanks and strap it down.  I d hate to lose my perch...

oldmooseThis Trojan [link=http://www.trojanbattery.com/GeneralDC.asp?Product=120]31XHS[/link] is a group 31 true " deep cycle"  battery with impressive specs and fits in a std group 27 battery box, which will also fit on a std grp 24 battery tray...

I picked one up for about $85.00...

 Skol...

i may be mistaken and don t remember where i heard it but i was told that rv/marine deep cylce wheren t as good a  true deep cycle   also that they have a longer battery life of 7-8 years (not the charge but battery lifespan)

 hope this helps
