DH always wants to grill, which is fine by me - less cooking I have to do.  But, if I even hint at any other way of cooking, I get  " but we re outdoors, we re only supposed to grill" .  I am allowed to make breakfast on the stoves and cook veggies that may slide through the grate on the grill on the stove, but otherwise, forget it.

So I was wondering what the preferred way of cooking or most frequent means of cooking is for others here on the boards.

whippetwruni use the dutch oven a lot when we do cook (rain rain go away)

whippetwrunWe don t wait to go camping to break out the Dutch Oven, but it s lots of fun when we are camping!

PJay would probably vote grilling, however, because it is quick and painless.

whippetwrunGrilling, unless I can talk DH into taking us out.[:D]

whippetwrunI dont  know how to answer the poll!! We generally do some stuff on the stove & some stuff on the grill.[:)]  Usually for the same meal.  For example - hot dogs/burgers on the grill plus macaroni & cheese for the kids on the stove.  I bought a Coleman oven - have yet to use it.  Maybe I ll finally try it over Memorial Day!

whippetwrunIf I couldn t cook over a campfire....it just wouldn t be as much fun.  Thinking up new things to try over a campfire is one of the fun things about camping for me[:)][:)]

whippetwrunWe do the majority of our cooking over the campfire. Our tripod is one of the most important pieces of equipmet we have. It s been with us since the tenting days. If we want to get moving fast in the AM (thats funny, us fast! well fast for us) we use the stove.

whippetwrunI d say we do a majority of cooking on the grill and stove.  However I love the crock pot the best.  East clean up - no hassel!  Plus DH must have beef stew at least one night of almost every camping trip, and there is no better smell when you come into the camper!

whippetwrunI prefer DO cooking, but with our new Roadtrip Grill I can see doing both. The DW uses the stove or toaster oven (with hookups of course).

Gone-Camping

whippetwrunI placed my vote on the grill, however, I use a combination of many of the different choices there. The grill seems to be my most common demoninator though!

whippetwrunit would seem i am the only one who favors the microwave...lol

whippetwrunI checked  other  only because I use so many of the various ways of cooking.   I have a crockpot, toaster oven, inside stove and outside high pressure stove.   Also a tripod (like FC s) There s always the campfire, or the grill.  When in a campground with elect. I use my WONDERFUL electric frying pan more than anything else.  It s one of the rectangular ones, big enough to cook more than one thing at once.   In fact, even here at home I use my WONDERFUL (yes, I have more than one) electric frying pan more than anything else.  Why, just this evening, I saute d some sliced summer squash, onions, green and red pepper slices and mushrooms in a bit of olive oil with some Jamaican seasonings, shoved it over to one side and lightly cooked two nice cajun spiced catfish fillets, and then set the whole pan out as a serving dish.   It was yummy!!!!!  That s what I like about camping cooking, it can be so simple, yet so good.

whippetwrunAll meats get cooked over the campfire.  The rest is either on the stove or microwaved.

whippetwrunI looked at this poll mostly for information, but I m thinking that " eat out"  is going to be a common option on our Canada trip.

whippetwrunWe use the stove the most, but we do cook a few meals over the fire on every trip.
