JemJen24Jen, if you are serious about the carport, check out tarps.com.  I think that was the webpage, you should get a Cover Me Canvas company out of the Carolinas.  We already had the carport, but after one very cold Thanksgiving trip when we were trying to wrap the thing in tarps, and stop up the gap around the roof, never mind the gables, I decided to check into a new valanced top, and all the sides.

I found this place, and ordered the new top, all the sides, stakes, and extra ball bungees, and got the whole new tarp setup for about $150 with shipping.  I know they also sell all the elbows etc, and have instructions to buy the poles you need from the hardware store.  That might be a project for Willard if you really want to check into this.

You ll find they make a great addition to your stuff in general.  We always take it along on cold weather campouts, and now we can fully enclose it as well.  They are super if you have a yard sale, and we even used it while gone to Oklahoma for Brian s mother s funeral.  Their house is VERY small, so we setup the carport in the driveway, and closed off the one side that would get too much sun, and were able to have meals etc outside where there was more room.

I ll look into that $89.00 port cover thing.  I ll tell Willard to check it out.  Thanks for all the info!

As a long time North Texas resident, I can give you a pretty good idea about what that canvas cover will look like after a good size hail storm, and it isn t pretty. OTOH, we get hail storms like we have had recently every 5 years or so.  In the mean time I ll bet that cover will help protect it from UV exposure so it may still be worthwhile.  Just remember, you ll probably have to buy a new one after the next hail storm.
