QuoteScott, who loves Larry and hopes he doesn t spit in my omlette like he will Sactocampers

Uh........didn t quite think of that when I entered the fray........on second thought......maybe I ll be eating cereal at Chabot! [;)]

But darnit! I had to stand up for DESCHNITZIFY! Everybody LOVES DESCHNITZIFY! and if I  wouldn t, then who would?? Even under the threat of blackmail (i.e. saliva projectile in my omelette), I stood up for a worthy cause, and came up with a mutually beneficial solution: The two terms can coexist since they are two different words with two different definitions and used in different contexts. In fact, not only can they coexist, they can be used together in harmony. For example:

" I simultaneously DECHINTZIFIED my popup by removing the faux metal trim as I was DESCHNITZIFYING the leak in my sink faucet."

See? Diplomacy is a beautiful thing!

Now, Scott, you re absolutely right. How the language is used defines it. But you re just trying to stir up the pot with this new, integrated definition of DESCHNITZIFY: [;)]

QuoteDESCHNITZIFY: To modify a chinzy feature of a popup. origin: Larry Lehland

which doesn t serve the interestes of either party. [;)][;)][8D]

So maybe I can have an omelette sans spit?

g-whiz

sammyslaveLarry, I totally understand your concerns.  I myself have had some along the same lines.  Recently, I asked about the name of our group... Nick-Neff-Cough:

QuoteAnd now for a technical question.... Is the translation of NNC, Nick-Neff-Cough OR Nick-Neff-Coff? I need to know the politically correct title. I saw that the site is Nick-Neff-Cough.org but I was sure that the COFF part meant, something like, Contingent Of Friendly Folk.

This was the answer I received back from Surfcal:

QuoteI don t understand the name either. But do you realize that what we ve done is derive Nick-Neff-Coff from North Central California Non-Exclusive PopUp & Hybrid Camping Organization of Friendly Folks. OK, so the acronym of that is NCCNEPHCOFF which is pronounced Nick-Neck-Cough. Then, we took the pronunciation and made it into a sub-official name and we further whittled it down to it s current incarnation of NNC. It totally doesn t make any sense, but then again, that s Nick-Neff-Cough, the Middle Earth of PUT (PopUPTimes).

This group is infamous for " deriving"  words from other words that just don t make sense!  I m calling Judge Judy right now!  Is there a linquist in the house???

sammyslaveNow I m getting emotional about this. Not only are you all mispelling " DECHINTZIFY"  but my best camping buddy mispells my last name.

Here I was, ALMOST ready to accept the boards seemingly unanimous indifference to the LEGAL spelling of a perfectly good word, and this happens! Well this means
WAR! If it wasn t for the fact that I actually have to make a buck today, I would be sitting down with legal counsel and preparing for the fight of the century.

 Grumpff.......

" Mom, I did my spelling list 10 times, can I go play now?"   And that wasn t any COPY/PASTE job either.  And using Georgeanne s helpful spelling tips, " Larry Eats Ham Mornings And Nights"   It will never happen again.

It was kind of cool being identified as your best camping buddy. [:)]

sammyslaveWell... I guess we can park Betsy the sheep in Surfcal s upgraded DECHINTZIFIED
PU and I will have to plan something a little more appealing for breakfast.

Surfcal

sammyslaveFirst it was inflatable dolls and now a sheep.

 Do I look that desperate?

sammyslaveRay, I figured that since you will be dry camping. (no electric bed warmer, TV and coffee pot) a little companion to keep you warm would be appreciated. Unless, of course, you happen to have a heck of a long extension cord. You could be in harmony with gsmx2 and g-whiz. Baa Baa, Raccoon scream, various kazoo noises and of course my gentle snoring.

Surfcal

sammyslaveThis is a weird thread.  It went from a national discussion on deshnitzifying to my Pop Up companion.  And I wasn t even heavily involved in the deshnitzifying issue.

 sammyslaveRay,

It s kind of like sitting around the camp fire with the NNC group on a nice warm evening, with the frogs in the background, the stars above, and a really light breeze blowing.

Ya never know when the the smoke s gonna blow in your direction.

If ya can t stand the smoke, go sit in the popup with Betsy the sheep.

sammyslaveMy personal counsel " Dewey, Cheetum & Howe" , stated that we may apply artistic license to ANY term NOT copyrighted,  trademarked or otherwise claimed, and I find that the term deSCNITZify is far more descript of the actual OPERATION that takes place and therefore I am sided with those that believe preservation of all variations is the prudent approach that should be the guidepost that we strive for as we form a MORE PERFECT NATION....etc. , etc., etc.

sammyslaveAhem?CWB. I make be helping to make the white gravy to go along with the biscuits!

sammyslaveRay...you re safe. Betsy has a date, so I m bringing along 150  of extension cord
so you get to pick one of your favorite comforts to use for the weekend.

sammyslaveThis whole string of dialoge just goes to prove a old Polish proverb. Which states.

Some of us have to much time on our hands.

And sense this word is Polish and not Penn. Dutch.( I just used Penn. Because i can t spell Pennsylvania.) Word. And sense i am Polish. It means whatever Larry wants it to mean. But if this word ever ends up in the Dictionary i think i will strat talking Russian at least they have neat looking alphabet.
