 All,

I could take this in for warrenty repair but who has time to do so. Woke up early Friday morning 4:00 am to find out what the dogs were so restless about, well  as soon as I got off the bed I new... Water all over.

I had a reguator on the water line, but for some reason the owner turned up the water pressure at the campgrounds because someone was complaiting about the water pressure being so low. Well, now I have a leak somewhere between the slide out and the trailer floor. It is the fittings for the outside showerhead.

Has anyone run into this? I did notice that under the trailer is a T fitting, copper, running into the trailer at the slide out area.

whitestar505Someone that was on the old board had a leak in the outside shower line, but I can t think of who it was, off hand.

Part of your purchase price is that warranty, that s for sure. If it s a simple fix, then someone here will certainly let you know. But if it s somethning odd, take it in and make them fix it. Get your money s worth from your warranty.

whitestar505I remember several people on the old board had problems with the water lines in the slide out area, but like Kathy I don t remember who.

whitestar505All of you that have a slideouts or a Utah 03. In order to get to the leaking water lines under the slide out, take out the four screws holding the kick plate in place which are located on the top rim. It should not fall out because it is held inplace with velco strips also. Once you remove the kick plate as it is called, all of the water lines and pump are exposed. The water lines for the outside shower are connected to the main water line by the use of handtight knobs. Mine were not tight. So the water leak. I should add that it is much easier to access when the slidout is out. This all took about 20 mins total.

This surely beats 10 days for the dealer in my book. As long as nothing is broken or needed to be replaced.[:)]

I did noticed that the water hose clamps are kind of odd. I did find out all you need to do to tighten the clamp is turn the square nut in the clockwise motion very gently.

 whitestar505Good info.

We don t have a hwh or outside shower, so this isn t a concern for us.

Glad to hear it was an easy fix.

Not suficciently tightening the hose clamps seems to be a problem with Coleman trailers.  Our hot water heater leaked that way, just needed a twist on the hose clamp screw.

whitestar505There are several problems with DIY fixes for warranty covered problems. 1) If you fix it there s nothing to tell the factory they have a quality problem. They find out when the dealer bills the factory for his time under the warranty provisions. Otherwise the factory goes blissfully on it s way because it no one tells them in they don t know/have a problem.
Also 2) what if next year when that famous one year covers everything warranty is no linger in effect and one of the floor panels/cabinets/slide out  decides to delaminate and/or swell up due to a water leak it was too much trouble to take to the dealer to fix?
I ve seen several cases where repairs were made under the warranty even though it had expired because the PU owner had taken the PU in for " minor adjustments/repairs"  during the warranty period and the problem could be traced back to something with the original adjustment/repair.

 mike4947Mike,

I have send a note to  both Coleman and Fleetwood about the problem.

whitestar505Glad to hear that your fix went well. I think I ll be doing a run through to double check all of my lines. You referred to a " kickplate" . Are you referring to the actual panel where the shower head and knobs are or is this under the slideout or on the side of the PU?

 Thanks

whitestar505

 MattHMattH,

The kick plate is inside the trailer where you step up into the dinning area/eating area. (Slide out) The kick plate is right there as you step up. Four screws are on top of the trim. Two on each side of the kick plate.

 whitestar505Thanks,

This is one that I ll check out the next time I m popped open.

 whitestar505Matt,

I have also heard people complain that the tubing (hose) Coleman uses is too stiff for the constant movement a slide out applies to it.

If you find that the tubing is actually cracked/broken folks have reported that the dealers have replaced the stock hose and fittings with more pliable hose and stiffer fittings.
