We made reservations for 3 nights this past weekend at Daingerfield State Park in East Texas. It is a lovely park and we enjoyed our first night and day. Not so for the second night. Park personnel chose to give the site next to ours to a party who occuppied the site with 12 people, 2 pickups, a mini van and a fishing boat on a trailer. The post midnight fishing excursion kept us awake for hours. I reported the problem to the Ranger in the morning and told him that if the " group camp"  was staying, we would be leaving by checkout time. I was assured that the group had a reservation for only one night. We went about our planned Sunday morning activities confident our complaint was heard and looked forward to another pleasant day and night.

A half hour after checkout time, I went to the park office to find out when the noisy bunch would be leaving. I was told that they had renewed for another day!
We did get a refund for Sunday night and left in a rain storm. We will not be returning so long as the reward for obnoxious behavior at Daingerfield is an invitation from the Park Superintendent to extend your stay

van castle[:@]Too bad they had to be camping near you or anyone else.  Doesn t the park have rules with a quiet time?  I would complain to the park manager and someone higher up in the park ranking (outside of the park you were in).  Hope your next trip goes better.

van castlewow...this really surprises me about the park staff!  They were all so courteous and helpful when we went.  As a matter of fact, I still consider Daingerfield my most favorite campground (ofcourse, we didn t have noise jerks next to us when we camped tho ).

Hate to hear this.  LEt s hope it s a once a crazy moon kinda thing and that you ll give Daingerfield (and their staff) a second chance.

van castleYuck.  Sorry to hear your stay at such a great park was ruined.

Turn Key

van castleThink I d call Texas Parks and Wildlife over something like this.  Our taxes pay for staff to deal with problems like this.  Have a number: (800) 792-1112.

van castleI agree with Turn Key; call and make a complaint. The bosses will never know there s a prolbem unless you tell them.

PS: I wouldn t have waited till morning. If I can t sleep because of noise I make sure the ranger can t either and I would have requested a refund for Saturday as well.

van castleWow.  That s the first complaint I ve ever read about Daingerfield.  You ll run into this type of camper from time to time no matter where you camp but it sounds like your complaint was ignored by the staff which is surprising to me.  They have been very helpful over the years when I ve been there and is one of the reasons we go back so much.

 van castleHi All,

This too amazes Terry and myself. We personally know the Park Manager/Ranger very well and he is a very close friend of ours. I just can t believe that Kim left this type of behavior go on in his park.

Sorry to hear about the botched stay.

van castleSorry to hear about your bad time, we were there the same weekend and recall seeing your camper.  We had a Niagra over on site 21.  We did not hear the rowdy bunch but the A/C drowns out allot of things.  We did hear about the group next to us also from Dallas that drove his truck into a tree and had to have it towed.  Not sure how they got home.

This was our first time at Daingerfield and really enjoyed it.  I agree that you should give it another try.  I also agree that if I don t sleep the ranger don t.  My husband would be right up there to make sure because he would not be sleeping either.

We also walked over to show our friends your camper size as we are trying to talk them into one.  They don t need one as large as ours as it is the two of them and we have 6.

 Happy Campin...

van castleI agree with degroot that you might want to give Daingerfield another try.  You might consider the weekend of June 13-15 when the North Texas Pop Up Camping Assoc. will be there.  We have about 25 families signed up and I m sure you will have a good time.

TrlrboyThanks Trlrboy for the invitation to join you and others of the North Texas group for a mid June campout at Daingerfield. We plan to be in Colorado at that time.
