The root cause is PJay s desire to finish her degree, and I am backing her 100% (in fact, I got this all started).  Her major was (and will be) Youth Ministry, and she will be applying to Bethel College (just outside St. Paul) for the spring semester.

But work is an issue.  My current contract (with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts) will end on June 27 and will not likely be renewed (the state is over $3,000,000,000.00 in the red), so I have to look for work anyway.  The feelers I have say IT will pick up in Minneapolis/St. Paul sooner and faster than elsewhere in the country.

DD #1 is already in Tennesee and is very excited for her mom.

DD#2 will be heading off to college in the fall, and feels bad about not being able to go back to the only home she has ever known, but doesn t want to put the brakes on things.

DS is looking forward to getting out of an unpopular position he is in right now in Middle School, and has said " I could use a fresh start."

Personally, I feel it is time to get unstuck.  I still live in the town I was born in 43 years ago.  That is the tradition in my family.  Going up the male line, we ve all lived within 25 miles of where I live going back to 1638.  Of the 300+ ancestors I ve identified in the family tree, only one was born west of the Hudson River.  All this defines me as a true old New Englander...the one who stayed behind when all others went west.  It s an old, old tradition, but one I have decided it is time to break.

OTOH, the day we signed to put the house on the market, a very old New England fixture, an Icon of the state of New Hampshire,  [Link=http://www.popuptimes.com/members/tm.asp?m=25998&p=1&tmode=1]The Old Man of the Mountains fell[/link]. [:(] I feel like I am the cause.[&:]

I haven t put too much thought into it.  There is nothing Mini about me, so I think Austin Minni would be misunderstood. [:o] I d love St. Austin [:)] (from St. Paul), but I don t think PJay would go for that, [: (] and I might get a swell head (not that I don t already have one).  Perhaps something to remind me that I am no longer from Boston, like AustinXBoston, but that sounds like I moved from Massachusetts to Texas, or like I m trying to multiply the two cities by each other. [&:] My first name (Thomas) originally meant " twin"  so maybe AustinTwins...no, that makes me look like a Twins fan, and brings to mind certain beer commercials. [:@] In high school I went (for a time) by T. Austin Cooper, so maybe TAustin would work. [8D] Still undecided.

Thats who you are! Thats the handle that you are know by!
Why change it unless it just goes along with the move and whole new way of thinking.
You are AustinBoston, be proud of that. Dont change it.

PS good luck on the move, sale of your home and future job hunting and best wishes to PJ on returning to school.

Gatsmommy

AustinBostonGood luck with the move. Let me know if you need any info on housing/neigborhoods in the St. Paul area. We just moved from there a year ago. We lived 3 blocks from Como park, so I learned that part of St. Paul pretty well. I also know the western/northern suburbs of Minneapolis.  I grew up on that side of town and always kept an eye on the real estate markets there too.  DH says it s a sick hobby of mine. Two months after we bought our house, I was going to open houses again LOL[:D]

Know I justify it by saying we want to move back someday and I need to know what s going on. I m glad to hear IT is picking up there. DH was positioned for a layoff, and there were no jobs when he was looking so we let the company move us here.

I totally agree!  Your not changing who you are, just where you are!  [:)]  I m glad to hear your going forward with your dreams.  Tell PJay not to worry, everything will work out perfectly if you put the whole thing in God s hands!

I wish you guys weren t moving away, but we ll catch up to you at Rally s and stuff!

Gamecock Camper

AustinBostonCongrads AustinBoston.  I am glad that you will be moving for the right reasons.  Good luck in your new and adventurous move.  I agree that you shouldn t change a thing and keep AustinBoston...... There is nothing wrong with moving, but never forget where you came from.

Firefyter-Emt

AustinBostonTom.. Yo can never take the Yankee out of a New Englander.. You know that.. Just leave it as it is... Your driving habits alone will let people know you have been through hell an back..(ie: the big mass hole in boston) [;)]

 AustinBostonAustin, PJay, and family,

Hope all goes well with the move, house selling, and school.

PJay, there is a " Bethel College"  about 40 miles from Union University, where your daughter is! You could move to Tennessee, and camp with TPUC! (www.tpuc.com)

We have on average 5-6 viewings each weekend day, and two viewings each weekday evening.  So far, shown over 25 times.  A few have returned.  There have been two offers, but really low, so we did not counter.

We are in the process of pre-packing, so from time to time the house is quite a mess, but when done it is emptier and so looks bigger.

If we don t have an offer by mid-July we ll start dropping the price, but I don t think we ll be there.
