For the past 20 plus years I have had a vision of a Christian retreat conference center with a summer youth camp program.  I have wanted to build / start / administrate this for what seems forever.  The opportunity has never risen to do this.  Now it seems that there is a chance to see this happen.  I have been working in business since my graduation from college almost 20 years ago and have often searched out this type of position without success.  This time there are extenuating circumstances that lead me to believe that maybe it will finally come to pass.  Rachel and I will be traveling on the 18th of May to meet with a man, from my past youth camp experience, who has had the same vision for 25 years.  He has the wherewithal to make things happen financially and has waited for the right person to manage the project.  I am looking for an open door.  Your prayers in this will be greatly appreciated.

If this happens, we would " have"  to leave Dayton, OH and move to the Gatlinburg, TN area.  Great Smoky Mountains, what a shame.  [;)]

Dayton DaveI will pray that this door opens for you!

Dayton DaveIt is so great to hear of people who are " motivated"  to do these types of things.  Listen to your calling; you ve already had one answered prayer - continue to ask for His guidance.

And, by the way, if your prayers are answered you could join our Tennessee Popup Camping club (www.tpuc.com).  We just got back from camping in the Smokies at Cades Cove.  Beautiful country and makes you sit back in awe of God s glory and His creation.  We have many members who are from that area of Tennessee (Pigeon Forge, Maryville, Alcoa).

Dayton DaveIt sounds like you BOTH may have good timing - you and your backer. When we wait for God s timing, as you have, you cannot help but be successful (remember that " success"  is not always defined in worldly terms).

I will be praying that God will use you in this area.

Dayton DaveGood luck and I hope your dream comes to pass.

Dayton DaveMay God s will be done.  As you have waited, God has worked in your life and others for this opportunity to come up.  I will pray for blessings for you and your family, but as always, May it be God s will.

Also TN is a beautiful place, I m sure you will enjoy the Great Smoky Mountains.

Dayton DaveOne of the things I love about the Lord is that His timing is perfect and His path is not always a straight one; it took a law degree, almost 9 years of practicing law (of which I hated every minute!), infertility, and a contested adoption for the Lord to prepare me for and bring me to the calling He had in store for me.  Looking back on all of it, I owuldn t have it any other way!  I will also pray that the Lord s will is the same as your desire.

 Dayton DaveJust an update here.

We got back yesterday from visiting the area and doing some talking with my friend.  There has to be a lot of merging of visions and ideas.  Once we believe that we are to do this, then he will have to start the process to liquidate some assets to generate the seed funds to purchase a site.  We looked at a retreat center that is already in the area.  It backs up to the Great Smoky Mountains Park.  Talk about a view out your back door!  There are about 20 cabins or small houses on the property.  They will have to be updated to modern amenities and appearance.  There is also a large conference center that has 28 rooms with double beds.  We were thinking about converting some to suites.  The view out the front door is magnificent.  There are peacocks all around as well.

This place is not up for sale, but anything is possible.  We always can start from scratch.  That will take a lot longer.  It is easy to be impatient, and want to pack up and go ASAP.  But, there is a lot of ground work to do.  Financing will have to be secured, investors gathered, etc.  We want to be sure that we are doing what God wants us to do.  Don t want to start something when we are not supposed to.

Now it is time to pray and prepare.  It will be interesting to see what will happen.
