 Hey,
Anyone camped at Kelley s Island State Park in Ohio.  It is on Lake Erie near Sandusky. My family is having a reunion on the island and I found out that they have a camp ground on the island.  Thought I would be able to visit with the crowd and still be able to camp with my wife and kids. Anyone know anything about it?

WatchmanMy first question is, when are you planning on going? Kellys Island fills up quickly. It could be hard to get a spot.

My suggestion would be to go to East Harbor State Park. It is about 15 to 20 minutes from the ferries that take you to the islands. It is a huge park with plenty of spaces. Let me know if you need more info.

WatchmanWe camped there a few years ago. We had a very nice spot right on the lake but we were in a tent. I don t remember if they had lakeside spots for popups. Here is a link to the Park.

WatchmanI have camped at Kelly s Island and loved it although we camped in a tent. We usually camp at East Harbor 3 to 4 times a year, but we live within 30 miles of the campgrounds. [:D]

We have a family reunion on the island June13th-15.  Most of the family are going to stay in  a large rented cottage on the island.  (We are taking our vacation and camping our way up and back.) Rather than staying with everyone else we thought we would stay at the campground.  It would allow us to be with the family but still have our space...  If you know what I mean. To stay off the island would probably be a little too far to be included in on what is going on with the family. But not totally out of the question.  I talked to the ranger on Kelley s today and he said that our dates are still early in the season and availability should not be a problem,  of course it is all depending on how nice the weather will be.  He did have some encouraging words...  " It is 45 degrees and heavy rain today so I could any spot I want if I show up today"  Other than that " no guarantees" [;)]Thanks
