Found this for my friend and her kids.  They bought our old popup that didn t have a shower and she hates taking the kids to the camp bathrooms.  So I found a nice product to make taking a quick shower at the campsite easier!   Found it at REI, it s called the Zodi Shower on the Go.  Coleman makes a similar product.  It is battery operated.  You place a battery operated pump into a bucket of warm water (they will use a 5 gallon bucket), there is an 8 foot hose with a shower head (she can heat up the water on their camp stove or over a campfire).  Turn on the pump and switch on the shower head and you get a nice steady stream of warm/hot water to shower with!!   Much easier than trying to hang up solar bags, etc.  It cost 31.99.

CamperrooI used to wash the kids in a Rubber Maid tote.

Camperroowhere do you use this shower at?  what happens to the soapy water?  does it just run onto the ground, and is this allowed?  no judgements, just truly curious.

CamperrooWe have the Coleman battery operated shower, and really like it. You can submerse the intake in a bucket, or other vessel of water, or it can screw fit onto a Coleman collapsable 5 gallon container.

Latter, my brother got us a Coleman shower enclosure. It has a tubular steel frame, and heavy vinyl material. Very heavy, but also very heavy duty.

For the water source, we heat water on the stove. I also have brought empty one gallon milk jugs and left them in the sun all day, this also did the trick!

We use a large tub to catch the gray water, and then simply flush it down the toilet.

While we were in Yosemite, we had people eyeing our setup, and offering $$ for a shower!

Now that we have the Bayside with outside shower, we may set up the enclosure behind the slide out. We ll see how it works out!

CamperrooWe resisted the urge to add a temporary shower to our camper.  Instead I decided to build a permanent bathroom & shower inside our camper.  It may not have been easy, but it s worth its weight in gold with three little DDs!

CamperrooThe shower water is drained into their sink which is hooked up to their gray water tank.  The kids only use a total of about five gallons.  They ve gotten a little too big for the rinse offs in the tubs but that worked great when they were smaller.   They do stand in a large shallow storage tub type of thing.  She bought a Paha Que (sp?) enclosure to use.  Now the grownups can use the shower too...well her DH will still trek to the campground shower, but my friend can t stand them.  Someday their life will be easier when they can afford another popup that already has a shower.  Wish we had bought it like that ourselves!!

CamperrooWe don t use the shower in our PU often, but when we do use it I am very glad to have it.

CamperrooWe have an outside shower that only gets used when dry camping well away from civizilation in the National Forest areas.

flag01, when we are out in the middle of nowhere we just let the water go where it may, but we follow the following rules:

 [ul]

  • All running water will not cause erosion of soil

  •
  • Biodegradable soap is used.

  •
  • No water runoff will go near ANY source of water (stream, pond etc)
  • [/ul]

When in developed campgrounds we do not use this shower.
