 Hello!

In an encore to last year s " Greetings from Hawaii"  post while on our honeymoon, we thought we would check in from Las Vegas/Flagstaff/Grand Canyon. We are actually in Flagstaff now, but will head to LV in a couple of days.

For those of you who haven t seen the west, the Grand Canyon is absolutely breathtaking! It was my first time, and I intend to come back. Also, Monument Valley is outstanding. Painted Desert and Petrified Forest are good trips too.

We are going to try and see the Hall of Flame (www.hallofflame.org) in Phoenix tomorrow, which is firefighting memorabilia and apparatus. It wasn t originally planned in our trip, but we think we can squeeze it in.

Hope all are doing well! We will return home late Sunday (18th).

PS: We are DRY camping in a new sense of the word. We aren t camping, but boy are we using the lotions, lip balms, and eye drops!

brainpauseCongrats on the good trip. My dad took us out there one time. I was too young to remember. Seems like we also went to Carlsbad Caverns at the time.

You could have told me you were going.  I would have been very happy to jump into one of your suitcases and gone along on the trip. [:)]

Hey, enjoy the area.  I haven t been in that area but plan to in the next couple of years.

Let us know how the trip was when you get back.

brainpauseI just got back from New Mexico (with side trips to Canyon de Chelly in Arizona and Mesa Verde (we got there to late!) and Durango in Colorado.

Dry camping is right!!!  The moisture gets sucked right out of you!  I actually saw wrinkles on my face!!! Thank goodness I m back in the hot and humid South Florida weather...with the lovely hibiscus, poincianas, frangipanis and lush, tropical vegetation.

I had taken tent camping gear but we only camped for 2 of the 9 nights.  Had to take a cabin at the KOA near Santa Fe ($38.71/night).  Had a lovely campout at Elephant Butte State Park toward the south but froze our you-know-whats off at Bluewater (ha! twas gray with whitecaps!) Lake State Park.

After that it was two nights in a motel that had fridge/micro/TV (which I did NOT watch) for $38.77 - same as the bare bones cabin.

Either way, I was disappointed cos it was supposed to be a camping trip.
