Moderator1 has posted that the May 2003 Rally Forum will be closing in less than a week now and has asked whether we want any of the threads saved to the general or campfire forums.  Yes? No?  What do you all think?

Sorry I ve been off the forum so long.  We got back from Rhode Island last weekend and I am paying the price at work for having gone on vacation.  I hope to be back and yakking online again soon!  Better yet, I m hoping to be camping soon!!!

Oh, btw, guess what we have sitting in our driveway?  Can you say 2003 Ford Expedition with a 5.4L, 290 hp, 350 lb.-ft of torque (at only 2,500 RPM!!), not to mention leather seats and a DVD player?  Rhumph, ruh ruh (think Tim Allen sounds from Tool Time)  Dave is very pleased!  It s good to be the King! [;)]

Uphill grades and longer trips, here we come! [:D]

Welcome back Lori!  Not that I m here that much, but I sure did miss you!  We are taking a month off in Sept/Oct and I know I ll pay the price, but it will be totally worth it.  Of course, we won t be going to a family reunion. [;)]

As for the thread, YES, please have it saved as I use the comments from time to time in my photo journaling.  Thanks for asking.

Give Dave a big ol  bear hug from me as a congrats on the new King of the Road vehicle!  Awesome. [:D]

OC CampersJust noticed that the Temecula Halloween rally is two weeks before Halloween and the pre-Thanksgiving one is two weeks before Thanksgiving.  We could be starting a trend here!

Let s see, that ll make the Christmas rally the weekend of Dec 12th, and the Valentine rally on January 30th...

If we consider May 14th as the day we officially formed (i.e. the day we got our own forum here on PUT), then we should commemorate it next year on May 14th with one big rally.  And guess what?  May 14, 2004, lands on a Friday!!!

Where should it be held?  [:D]

OC CampersI did some " surfing"  for the May Rally. This place looks cool, but have never been there

 Maybe Lake Perris?

Just trying to find something new...the old places are great too, but thought a new Adventure would be fun.

It would  make me worried that there would be too many flipping roosters.

Dee4jHey there, close (TOS & G) and distant (the rest of you) neighbors,

We re receiving all the feedback paperwork from the RV dealer and manufacturer at the moment, which prompts me to mention that if ever you want a different type of RV, we highly recommend Barber RV here in Ventura.  They were great the entire way.

Along with the stuff from Barber was a 2-year calendar with our photo in it.  The salesman said we d receive the calendar when he took our picture, and I just assumed it would be a small, desk calendar type of thing.  Au contraire, it s really N-I-C-E, and is hanging on the wall right by this desk!  Perfect to log and plan all our rallies in. [:D]   All the pictures are scenic and travel-related.  Beautiful!

gsm x2Just sitting here, dreaming out loud because I ve been away from my camper for too long, and this is what Sccampers  group trips look like for the next few months:

July:  There was some interest in a trip the weekend of the 25th-27th but no place was ever selected (our first choices were both full).  Anyone still up for something?  We could be, if our camper is fixed by then.  Hopefully I ll have some info on the repair ETA tomorrow.

August 22nd-24th: Chezway & Darksiders @ Casitas (Dee4j has reservations that she can t use if anyone else wants to take them off her hands)

September: No trip scheduled (other than the G s whirlwind tour without us! [:)])

October 17th-19th: Trick-or-Treat in Temecula (VLR)

November 14th-16th: Going Camping, Giving Thanks (Far West Resorts, Santa Paula)

December 26th-29th: Cchristmas in Ccacchuma (Lake Cachuma)

 January: No trip scheduled

February: Possible NNC & SCC Winter Rally in Monterey?

Just throwing it out there for thought or discussion...[:)]

gsm x2Anybody want to camp in the desert in January? Say, Anza Borrego? We went twice last winter and though it was raining like crazy in San Diego it was dry and sunny in the desert. January 19 is MLK day so the kids will be out of school and some folks could make it a 3-night camping weekend...

 GuestHey Holly!

What s the cg like?  Are there hook-ups? [:)]  Sounds interesting...[:D]

oldmoose

gsm x2Mypoduction manager goes camping there frequently and I believe it is dry camping. He speaks highly of it and it is very popular.

gsm x2Hollypop here- I just typed a long response and lost it before I could post it. Errrgh.

Okay what was the question again? There are two cg s in Anza that offer hookups. We ve been to one of them- a county park inside the state park. It s Agua Caliente campground. http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/parks/camping/agua_caliente/agua_caliente.html

The caravan area doesn t have hookups. I would recommend sites 97-104 or 64-73 for a group.  This is a beautiful desert setting. The campground itself could use some county refurbishment money (yeah right like that s gonna happen) but it s not a dump. Hey they have mineral pools so it can t be that bad. The outdoor pool is where the kids can swim, they say they keep it at 96 degrees but it didn t feel that warm to me, although my kids didn t wait around for my opinion before they hopped right in and had a blast. The indoor pool is even hotter, with jets, enclosed in a glass pavilion. Only adults and older, or at least taller, kids are allowed inside and yes they do police this policy. The kids however can use the nice showers here.

Our dog hates this campground cause she can t camp here. No pets allowed.

Great hiking trails all around, nice views, nice weather although it gets chilly at night and can get pretty windy too.

The other cg with hookups is the state-run Borrego Palm Canyon campground inside the park. I don t know anything about this one. I guess Reserve America would handle this.

 Thoughts?

 gsm x2Hollypop here again-

Agua Caliente allows reservations 3 months in advance. One person can make reservations for up to 5 sites. It s $18/night plus a $3 reservation fee. So the price is right.

I really like camping here but I seem to be a desert person. However January is a great time to camp here even if you re not a desert person, and the weather is much more reliable here than elsewhere in January.  We camped here once when it was really rainy in San Diego and it was totally dry at the cg all weekend.

I don t know of a good spot for a big potluck gathering, we d have to scope that out.

Hey if we have a rally here in January can we call it the " Neener Neener We Can Still Camp even in January Rally" ?  [:D]

Cottonwooder

GuestI think I m going to hang out here for awhile, kinda lie low, perhaps hide behind Lori and Jacqui if necessary...   Anyone have space to hide our new trailer???
