gsm x2I ve received a couple of emails for the Easy Peach Cobbler. It was not on some of the CD s I will post it in the recipe section on Monday. Just got back from a weekend in the Southern Sierra s. Saw how much damage the McNalley fire did. We were camped on a remote part of the Boy Scout camp right on the edge of the fire line. Those firemen (& women) did one hell of a job protecting what they could.

gsm x2Hey!  We need a logo! [:o]  I know we kicked around the concept of a pop up and the beach or waves...anyone come up with something yet?[:)]

 gsm x2

Dave (aka Hoosierpop) and I have discussed a logo. I think we can get him to design something. We re arguing, er, brainstorming different ideas for it. We ll get something figured out soon, unless somebody else comes up with something different in the meantime.

Actually, I could be some help.  Let me visualize what a SoCal Camper logo would look like.

 It would have a PopUp
A palm tree with the sun
 Breaking wave in the background
A tan and buff couple in the background hitting a beach ball
And the PopUp and Palm tree would have Christmas lights on it.

 Yeppers...that about sums it up.

Now who can take the concept and make it happen?

 gsm x2Throwing out a thought:

There is a beach in Santa Barbaara county where I would love to camp: Jalama Beach.  But it s a first-come, first-served place, and from what I ve heard, you have to get there pretty early to snag a site.  Now they do have a couple of group areas that they will reserve.  I haven t called them yet to get any other info, so I don t know how many campers are needed to qualify as a " group"  (maybe 7?) but would anyone else be interested in a mini-rally here?  Here are the Web sites for the campground:

I was thinking maybe mid-August or after Labor Day when the crowds are down, but the weather is still nice...

gsm x2I need some campground guidance.  My dad is coming out in July, so we want to take the PopUp down by my sisters and camp near her.  She is near the intersection of Chapman Ave. and the toll road.

 Featherly Park
O neill Regional Park in Trubuco Canyon
 or ???

She s right near Lake Irvine...$15.00 per night, but the $16.00 per person fishing permit makes it a " no go."

 Anyone have any suggestions?

Flush toilets and NOT a paved RV park are requisites. Water and electric would be nice, but not totally necessary.

I appreciate any help our OC friends can offer.

 Lori,
We looked at this campground a few years back when we were tent campers.  We always wanted to camp here but didn t want to take the chance with the no reservation policy.  If you can get reservations for a group site we definitely would be interested.

I have heard really nice things about this campground.  It would be a cozy experience, there is NOTHING in the surrounding area so all time spent will be spent with SCC members---and maybe a few NNC members too.

Not committing at this time, but one never knows.

Stay away from O Neill.  A large transient population and not so nice people camp there.  You can ask Jacqui.

Featherley (aka Canyon RV) looks nice, but I ve only driven by on the 241 tollroad.  Dee has camped there and says the managers can be a bit rude, but otherwise it s a nice place, if you don t mind the freeway noise.  It s pretty close to your sister.

I checked out Irvine Lake about a year ago, and unless they ve spiffed it up since I drove through, it was a bit of a dump.  I ve been meaning to go through again.  Maybe this will motivate me to make the time one day on my way home from work.  I ll let you know what I find out.

Scott already turned off his computer so I ll answer....  The Tahoe Rally kicks off our long trip.... Sept. 18 - Oct. 18.   Our August is pretty jammed up with me going to Michigan and a weekend up in San Jose.  But, if the timing is right, like Scott said, one never knows. [;)][:D]

 griffsmomLori,

We would be interested in camping at Jalama beach. We ve heard that it s nice there. Mid August or Sept. is great!

Scott, I would recomend Featherly (now Canyon RV Park) park. The only thing that might not be good is the noise from the fwy. However, they have added sound walls on the fwy so maybe that helps. They have Flush toilets, Showers, and hookups available. Geographically close to your sisters location. (this place is only a couple of minutes from my home too!) (even funnier is that my sister lives near Chapman and the Toll rd too!). I havn t been there in years, but I think that it is not to paved for you. Some of the sites might be paved though. There is plenty of grass and dirt as well. Actually, if it wern t next to the fwy, it would be a pretty cool place to camp. Let us know when your coming and we ll send the welcome wagon to you! Larry

Also, Newport Dunes is an option, a bit further away on the 261, but a real nice place and it is on the bay of Newport Beach. A bit pricey though in the summer.
