wiininkweIf your pic is more than 290x290 Max 200. kb, you ll get a message that says page not found or error. You would need to resize your pic at that point

MtnCamperI finally figured the pic thing out. I tried for about a hour last night and finally gave up[:@]. It took me all of 10 mins today once I realized how to do it. I just had to go resize my pic and it went in just fine[:)].

MtnCamperI put a picture in my profile.  It was very picky about the size though and I had to make sure it was small enough before it would accept it.  I love putting faces with names so more of you need to post your pictures!

wiininkweWhy does everyone keep saying that you have to resize your pic, but no one says how to do that?????

wiininkweI think it is great that we finally get to see what some of us look like.  It is nice putting a face to the words.

wiininkweLast night, I tried for over an hour to get it to work, but no luck
I was trying to use my picture in Tripod, and then Webshots,
But I should have been trying to download it direct from my hard drive.
 not from a web page.
Be careful, it cannot be in a directory that has spaces in the file name,
Such as ?My Documents? or ?My Pictures?.

As for re-sizing the photo, I had a difficult time with this also.
After trying a few different programs on my computer,
I finally used Microsoft photo Editor, which comes as part of Microsoft Office.
I opened the picture, and clicked on the drop down menu IMAGE, and then on RESIZE.
Change the units to Pixels, and then the size to 290.
If your picture is rectangular, not square, then the picture will get distorted, as PUT makes it square.
To solve this, when I changed the pixel size to 290, I only changed the smaller number to 290.
I then clicked on O.K. to close the resizing box, and then went back up to IMAGE and then to CROP.
In this box, I had to work out how much of the bigger number of pixels I had to reduce to get to 290.
Mine was originally 442, so I cropped 100 pixels from one side and 52 from the other.
I then clicked on O.K., and saved the picture to a directory in my C drive that had no spaces in it  C:Kevinphoto.JPG

 ARGGGHHHH
 It still doesn t work.
I thought it did, but it was just going to my hard drive to get the photo each time.

O.K. finally got it to work.
turns out I was not downloading the image correctly.
You have to click on the words " upload my picture (will replace the existing one).

You will have to resize the picture in a photo-editing program. Then you can upload the picture. Be sure that it is no more than 290 pixels in any direction. Ours is 290 wide, but only 180 high.

jaycocamprsThanks Marcy, for the help.   I m hoping that the pic will show in my profile now, if it doesn t, I ll go back and start all over.

.
That is an option of the system, but for now we have it turned off.   Again, it may be an item for a poll.

A lot of people use dial up and pictures in every post would both slow down your loads as well as increase web hosting costs for PUT.
