JemJen24Lake Catherine looks pretty good from the pictures you posted.  The one of the guys fishing in the fog is outstanding.  How are the trails?

 (See you at Daingerfield)

JemJen24Jennifer, is the 6inch green garden hose the plastic kind, rubber..... I am sure it makes a difference....... We did buy some sticks at Wally World 2 years ago that change the color of the fire.... mainly blue and green.... but they don t carry them anymore.  I think I might have one or two left, so I might search for them on the internet.....

JemJen24Rubber garden hose, I believe.  I ll check with Kelly to be sure, but I m pretty sure that s what they had told us.

I just went and bought a 3-4 foot piece of copper pipe for $3.99 at Home Depot.  I have old hose in the garage.  Cheap, fast, turns EVERY color of the rainbow, and lasts about 30 minutes.  :)

JemJen24Green rubber hose.  Cut both hose and pipe about 6 inches long per unit.

JemJen24Does burning the Green rubber hose put out a rubber smell?  Any complaints about harming the environment?  Just wondering.  I m still going to give it a try.

JemJen24

JemJen24No rubber smell as far as I could tell.  The pieces you use are approx 5 or 6 inches long and you don t want to sit in the smoke and inhale (ofcourse) the fumes (I wouldn t recommend it).  I m sure burning rubber is not exactly " good"  for the envirnoment, but neither is driving our cars, using hair spray, or burning some of the other stuff I ve seen people throw into the fire.  It s just a small piece and I can t imagine it having a detrimental impact.  [:)]

JemJen24As an experienced Rikks Stikks user I can verify that the smell is minimal and the smoke is almost nonexistent as long as you have a hot fire.  They seem to work best once you have a good bed of coals under burning wood.

I ve tried longer pieces of copper pipe up to 12"  long but the 6"  pieces seem to work the best.  You also need to remember not to tap the copper pipe on the side of the fire ring to clean out the ashes because that causes dents in the pipe and makes it hard to reuse.  Just poke the ashes out with a stick.  A helpful hint in reloading the hose into burned copper pipe is to coat the hose with liquid dish soap.
