We seem to alway camp where there is plenty of electricity so I thought I would save on propane and get a little portable heater instead of using the electric/propane heater that came with the popup, which I must say, is quite LOUD. Does anybody have any recommendations on a little electric heater? I have seen those tiny parabolic type heaters but have never used one. Appreciate any info......thanks, Mike & Jane

MrBuneezI am not a big fan of the parabolic heaters.  Two years ago I picked up a Pelonis ceramic disc heater and it is great!  Everyone who has commented here about them also likes them.

Unless we are camping very early spring or very late fall (meaning very cold), this can usually keep us comfortable.  But, we do close off the unused bunk end.  If you use both bunks, two small heaters may work out better for you.

 tim5055YES< YES< that is what I meant.......ceramic.....thanks Tim

MrBuneezI do not think the brand matters, we have had several and they all seem to work well and are cheap. Get one with a fan tho, and if your PU is large get two.

MrBuneezCeramic heaters do a great job.  As with any electric heater in a PU though, would advise running a separate electrical cord from power box just for the heater.  They pull quite a bit of juice.

MrBuneezWe also have a Pelonis two speed .  Bought the smaller of two they had at Home Depot two winters ago and it heats entire camper no problem down to 40 or so.  Only one time ( St Augustine Feb  01 ) did we freeze our giblets off and that weekend it dropped to about 32.  I have since installed a heat strip in a/c unit and that also works well to knock the chill off.  Have fun.....

MrBuneezWe ve had a Vortex portable heater for several years now & have been quite happy with it.  Best part is it can double as a fan on those hotter days.

MrBuneezWe also have the Vortex ceramic heater and run it now instead of the propane furnace in our camper which is so very LOUD!  It works great, especially since I worry so much about our 2 y/o not being cold.  We ve camped in rainy cold weather and with nighttime temps in the 30s and have been quite toasty. I like the one with the auto temp feature that regulates itself in turning on and off through the night.  We plug it right into the camper s outlet but rumor has it that you can t have it on at the same time as the television and the coffee pot or you ll blow a fuse.  [;)]
