Anyone been there?  What can you tell me about it?  Is there good tubin  or other water recreation?

 JemJen24Hi Jenifer,
Have been there and really did like it.  The park is set a good bit back off of the main road so you get no highway noise.  In fact, I suggest great caution when approaching the park at night.  The roads are fine but the deer in the area seem to spend a great deal of time on the road side just after dark.  I ve seen a lot of deer in the Hill Country but they seem to be just every where in that area.  Would hate to hear that you hit you.
Park is beutiful with many great shaded sites.  Many offer a great deal of privacy.  For reasons unknown, I don t have a list of " prime"  sites for this park.  Sure I m going to miss that the next time we go there.  Watch for deer and other wildlife in the camping area.  Very common to walk up on grazing deer in the morning and evening.  They don t spook easy.
The only thing we didn t like about the park was that the water temp in the showers was pre-set.  It wasn t that it was " cold" .  It just wasn t as " hot"  as we would have liked.  This is the only park that we have seen like this.
River is very clear and clean.  Unfortunatly, you can t swim or tube in the first 3 miles.  There are a couple of great pools but the area is " off limits"  for swimming due to some accidents a number of years ago.  This leaves about half the park to tube.  Didn t do it myself due to the seasons we have been there but it sure looks like it would be nice.
Be sure to bring what you need.  It s 8-12 miles back to Johnson City to get supplies.  Also, there is a nice resturant there on the main intersection.  Not fancy but good food.  Of course, your not far from Fredricksburg and you can bet we will get there at least once during a trip to the Hill Country.
If you haven t gone down that way, may I suggest catching 281 and taking it down.  Nicer drive and have found that it s a good bit faster then the 35.  Drove it all the way just last month and ran into no problems.  67 past Glen Rose to 220.  220 to 281 at Hico and then south.
That s about all I can think of.  If you have any other questions that I may be able to answer just post and I ll see what I can come up with.
 Have a great trip!

 JemJen24Jen,

I agree with everything that Harry had to say.  I don t know about tubing but there were a lot of people fishing in the river so I guess there s something in there.  Hiking was nice, different than this area and not too rocky.  Campsites are big and roomy.  Here s our favorites based on privacy/shade... 53-9-41-57.

Be sure to go to the beef jerky factory in Johnson City, it s great.

 JemJen24Hi Jennifer,

Terry and I drove through there last weekend when we were staying at Inks Lake. We really liked the park, especially sites 2,3,4, & 5. Very nice park with lots to do in the area.

 JemJen24Hi Jennifer,

From what I remember, they were very shady and spread out from the other sites which seemed close together. We were really attracted to them and their looks.
