well, I already told you that we aren t going camping over this long weekend, cuz we need to paint the house.  But, I am preparing for a very neat road trip with my sister and a few girlfriends from my old school days.   Four of us are going to visit Colonial Williamsburg, VA for a week.  Well, not the full week, we ll stay there for three days, and then spend three days at Virginia Beach.  We re leaving June 8.   We ve been checking out the available attractions online, and it looks like we ll be very busy trying to see everything.
The girls from school are have been friends for as long as I can remember, and during high school we were almost inseparable.  And, some of you may remember that, my sister and I were separated as babies, and adopted into different families.   We found each other in 1993, and have been gradually getting to know each other and becoming sisters again.   This will be the first time we have ever done anything like this together, and I am very excited about it.   Last summer we went to visit some other familiy members that we had found, and spent one night with them.  At about 1:00 in the morning, we both realised that it was the first time since we had been separated that we were sleeping overnight together.  We actually started to giggle like little kids about it.   Before too long, we had everyone in the house laughing, and someone finally had to holler, " Hey, you kids settle down and get to sleep in there!"   It was so strange to realise that most sisters have that said to them as children, LOL.    This trip should be just wonderful!

luvourjaycoThank you!!    After growing up as an only child, wishing that I had a sister to share (and fight) with, it was very confusing to me when my own two DD s used to scream and argue.  I remember them saying " I hate you!  I wish you were t my sister!"    I would almost cry, and try to tell them how awful it seemed not to have any one that was like you to grow up with.   Then, they thought that was pretty funny, but once they didn t have to share a room anymore they became best friends, and pity the poor fool who  disses  either one of them in front of the other!   It s taken my sister and I 10 years to start to feel that family bond, and we still have some big issues in our thoughts and opinions, but we ve learned that it s ok to agree to disagree, and that disagreement doesn t mean the end of a relationship, just a point to be more flexible and willing to compromise.    We also found a brother that we weren t aware of, and lost him to cancer within a year of finding him.    We re so thankful that we had that year together.

wiininkweToni, that is so awesome!  There is 12 1/2 years between my sister and me.  Right now I m having my 4th child and she s still all cool and modern!  But it s nice now that she s older.  Before I was like her 2nd Mom!  Now we are more like friends, I can just tell her to " Shut-up"  in church or where ever and people just say, " Oh, your sisters!"
