I am looking into camping at Chippokes State Park in Surry, Virginia. I have searched the net for any " real people"  reviews of their campground and have found nothing.  I am hoping that someone on this board has been there.  It sounds like a nice place, but I am a little wary trying somewhere I know nothing about. THANKS in advance for any input you can give!![:)]

RoyalmomnessActually, since it only an hour away, we drove there yesterday.  VERY nice litle GEM hidden away in rural Surry county Virginia...BUT only 5 minutes away is a FREE car ferry that drops you off right at the Jamestown Settlement and minutes away from Williamsburg.  There are also two historic homes that you can visit that are only a short drive from the park.  The park itself has a nice pool, trails, an old " mansion"  and gardens that you can tour, a sandy beach area where you can walk along the James River-breathtaking.  The wooded campsites (only 30 of them) all have electric and water and are all fairly level.  Each site has your own fire ring.  There is a nice distance between yourself and the other campsite next to you.  The bath houses were sparkling clean.  The only drawback I see is that there is not much to the little town nearby, but there is a grocery, gas station, bank, etc... So.....  I answered my own question by visiting there.  We felt it was worth the drive!
