I have been reading about this very compact & quite generator.  Does anyone have experience with one?  I think it would be perfect for extended dry camping by allowing me to recharge my batteries during the day.  I do not have an a/c, so I do not need alot of power on demand.

I have seen them on ebay for around $500.  Is it worth the investment?

 Thanks!

JonesFamilyJaycoLooks like a nice unit, and at 29 pounds should travel well.

Just remember you will want a quality battery charger, don t use the 12v DC output of the generator.  It does not supply sufficient voltage to charge well.

For dry camping (no close neighbors) used to recharge the batteries I think you would have a winner, but at a fairly high price[:(]

Here is but one of many sites to see the unit:

JonesFamilyJaycoI have one, and use it! Nobody has ever complained about any noise! I had one guy ask me what the little red thing was? It s my generator, Don t you ever use it? The whole time it was running. From 30 feet away you can t hear it. Standing next to it, It s normal conversation!

The DC output is around 16V. 8 amps. You can charge the battery directly off it, but it puts out a constant voltage. Doesn t taper off when the battery is full. So I usually plug my charger into it, then it just idles along.

The only time you hear it, is when you plug in something that s a high demand user, drip coffee pot or hairdryer. Anything that has a heating element. They will suck up around 750 or 800 watts, so the Honda will " throttle up" . Then you will hear it running. But for a TV or Charger you won t know it s running. Even your camper lights, and converter, don t throttle it up. So it s as close to silent as you get.

I ve even been known to power the TV and Dish at home, when the electricity goes out.[;)]
