 SOMETIMES I HATE HOLIDAYS!

That said, let me say that I don t think of myself as some kind of " Scooge" .  It s just that my occupation mandates that I work on almost all holidays.  This means that while everybody else is out camping and having a great time, I m stuck at home!  Even that doesn t bother me that much.  I ve been doing this for years and really don t want to change what I do and how it s done.  The very worse part of it is that while everybody is out having a good time, this and every other messageboard I visit slows down to a crawl!!!  I don t even have any one to type at!!!  What a bummer.

Now that I have that off my chest, I hope everybody has a great weekend and comes back with a lot of great stories to tell.  That s what this  board is here for and if I can t get out camping myself, I want to hear about your trip.  Looking forward to some great memories[:)]!

Turn KeyNot everyone went camping.  I stay away from holiday weekends.  I m camping next weekend[:D]

wahoonc

Turn KeyNot camping either[&:] But I am thinking about next weekend, defintely going the weekend of June 21[:D]
I am not a big fan of being crowded in a campground with a bunch of people, about half of whom I wouldn t want to be around anyway[: (]

I have just had the first Sunday off in 3 1/2 years, But I didn t go...Why.... I m packing for a 10 day trip starting on Tuesday. Then back to work the weekend of the 6th. Other than that all of our camping is done during the week. Much quieter!

Turn Key

Turn KeyYeah, we do all our camping during the week and really don t like the crowds on the weekends and holidays.  Probably wouldn t camp at those times even if we could.  Just had a bad day at work yesterday (And a bad day where I work can be REAL bad!) and was feeling sorry for myself.  Thanks for letting me rant a bit.

Turn KeySorta glad I am not camping this weekend, it has been cool and rainny here with only a few hours at a time where the drizzle lets up.

I am saving up my strength for the Rally in about 28 days, won t be camping before that.

If I understand your screen name I know what you mean about a bad day at work.

I don t have any bad days at work any more[:D](retired) and like you do most of my camping during the week, and aviod camping on long weekend hollydays

Gone-Camping

Turn KeyHmmm, if it weren t for holiday weekends, I wouldn t have time to go camping! OK, 2 day weekends are ok close to home, but to travel a couple of hours or more we really need 3-4 days. And since I ve got no vacation on the books, the Holiday weekends ARE my vacation!

That being said, Memorial Day weekend is almost always a partial wash-out in this part of the world, that didn t change any this weekend either! AAArrrrrgggghhhh

Turn KeyThis was not the greatest week-end to go camping around here!  What was up with Memorial Day in New England??!! [:@] [: (] [>:] It poured out all day!  And the weather forecast said it was supposed to be the only sunny day of the week!

Turn KeyWe camped at a state park in NY. The place was about 85% filled (according to the front gate staff), even with the rain. But the sites are so big, it didn t feel crowded at all.

Sunday was downright gorgeous. I was very glad we didn t decide to cancel, although there wasn t a chance we would. Reserve America would have taken a big chunk out of what we had already paid for the reservations.

We re doing 4th of July at the same park and then Labor Day at another state park. The only crowd we ve ever encountered was mid week at a Jellystone campground two summers ago. It makes us very happy that we re now set up to dry camp at the Adirondack and Catskill parks.[:D]

Turn KeyWell, we didn t do too much this weekend, just cooked brats and ham over the fire, played a little volleyball, took a few walks checking out others rigs, drank a few beers,...the usual stuff.[8D]
 Gotta love first shift jobs...[8D][;)]
