This was a memorial day trip -last minute or we would have gone elsewhere.  Cloverdale KOA bills itself as a " Kamping Resort" , perhaps this is how they justify the high rates.  Had a pool (free), paddleboats (fee), scooters (fee), gameroom, limited store.  Two types of sites - tent (no hookup) or rv (full hookup).  Sites were side by side with minimal separation (you could touch two rv s as you walked between sites).  The hookups for all sites were at one extreme end of each site making it difficult for some folks to use them. Sites were going for 48.00 a night, and they wanted to charge us 20.00 each for my daughters who came up for Monday only.  They then made me a deal of 7.00 each for one night for my daughters.

 Noisy, cramped, expensive.

California Camping rates this campground as a 6.  For what we paid vs. what we got, this campground was more like a 2.

 abbearAllan -
Well, I m sorry to hear about your expensive w/e, but do thank you for the review.  I ve been wondering about the Cloverdale KOA and now know it is just like all of the other northern CA KOA s - expensive, cramped, and unfriendly!

Red neff BarchettaHi Jeff.We have camped at several types of parks, and have a different assessment of,at least, one Northern California KOA. Our experience at the Santa Cruz KOA has been very positive. The rates are competetive with similiar parks;the space size is adequate, and the park employees have been very friendly to us.Regarding space,of course, the situation is better in the" off"  season. We have only had neighbors in the space next to us one out of the four times that we ve stayed there.Lots to do and see in,and near, the park. The Santa Cruz KOA is a good alternative to the State Park campgrounds in the vicinity, which often do not have any spaces available.PS-We have also found that the special events that the local Koa sponsers can be quite fun.Last year, we had a great time at their Thanksgiving celebration weekend. We plan to attend again this year. That said,we do enjoy state and county park camping too.Hope to meet you at a NNC ralley in the near future.

abbearThanks for the recommendation Forestwalker!  I forgot about that
KOA and the relatively good things I heard about it.  I think Civil War Buff has stayed there which is also who I think told me about it.

Looking forward to meeting you also!
