I stopped by a gas station/mini mart locally in Cincinnati for a bottle of water.

There was a young lady (maybe early 20 s) having one of the clerks filling her tire with air (as she had a flat).

She came in the store while I was about to check out and the other clerk asked if it was holding air.  She said no -- that is definitely had a hole somewhere, but asked if he had any duct tape.  She wanted to patch the tire with duct tape so she could go and meet her friends.

This is truly one that I never have heard of before.

I don t know -- I had to get out of there before I started laughing too hard.

I think she wanted to put on the outside of the tire as this was not a service station that could take the tire off the rim.

She was blonde -- if that makes more sense.

Just received this back from the duct tape guys

Go to our body shop on a roll page - there is a photo of a guy fixing a flat with duct tape - actually, it often works (We ve gotten a lot of testimonials to prove it).
 Thanks for the note.

SactoCampers

angelsmom10I have a pair of old flip flops with just a single wide strap across the top of the foot. I ve had them for a few years and got them at Costco for around fifteen bucks. Well, they ve been on their last legs for a while, slowly coming apart at the sides where they connect to the sole/footbed. Finally, snap, flip flops no longer work. So I pull out my handy dandy duct tape expecting it to save the day. But no! the duct tape lets me down and under the heat of the day, the adhesive begins to soften and melt away and the footstrap no longer functions. You could say my flip flops only flop. I was very disappointed. I suppose I could have wrapped the tape around and around the flip flop, but didn t want it to look too cheesy.

Anyway, duct tape fixes *almost* anything. But sometimes it doesn t fix stuff you thing it should.

Is there really such a thing?  I thought once the duct tape was affixed the cheese-factor didn t matter any more! [: (]

Kelly, you called me out! I suppose one might assume there would be no more cheese factor to consider, but the flip flops really did look somewhat tasteful while they were temporarily repaired with duct tape. All of the coloring, logos, etc were still visible. Were I to duct tape the entire strap, it would simply look like a duct tape sandal, whereas with partial duct taping, it still resembled the original sandal. However, since the duct tape failed me, I must put aside the Kraft American cheese slices and head straight for the Easy Cheez if the sandals are to function at all. [;)]
