I know it s been discussd before, but what size PVC do you all use to bungee to your rear bumper & how do you close the ends?  I have a Coleman, so the tire looks like it will be in the way & I ll have to use  a short piece.  Thanks in advance.

mwh710While I don t use one, I have read the descriptions of several that folks have built.

First of all you are correct, it is difficult with te tire placement on the Coleman units.

Four inch is the absolute minimum, and six inch is much better.  The ends can be capped with screw in plugs.  Both six inch pipe and caps are vaialable at commercial plumbing supply houses.

 Now, for a shameless plug:

The PVC mats in the pop up times store eliminate the need for the PVC tube.  For what you will spend on parts and attachment yo are close to a 9 X 12 mat that weighs almost nothong and shakes clean.

mwh710We used a six inch on the front and rear. The front one has the screw (cleanout) plugs. The rear just has the turf in it, so no need for a plug.

You can see it at our website below, on the mods page.

mwh710I just ordered a 6X8 mat today & was going to store it in rear PVC - NO?

mwh710The mats are manufacturered to fold, not roll.  It is hard to explain - just don t spend the money for the pipe until your mat arrives.

I think you will be able to find somewhere to carry it without the pipe.

They are extremly lightweight and fold fairly flat.

mwh710I agree with tim5055.  You cannot roll those mats.  They are stitched on 3 pieces and designed to fold in 3rd s.  Very ingenious I have found.

You will love the mat, but it isn t going to go in a tube.

mwh710I agree with the others, the mat is great but it is made to fold, not roll.
