Just got the Reese sway control in the other day and was looking through the installation instructions. On the second page under hookup line b: it say s Retighten handle until it stops(handle should be in its original level position). Now does that mean to crank on it using only my hands[:@] (no cheater pipe)until I can t turn it no more or count the number of turns that are on it from the factory.I know their will be a different situation for different TV and PU S.Any advise would help.

SCCSI know what you are talking about.  I think somewhere in the directions it metions loosening it 2 turns to get it off, and tightening it 2 turns when ready to tow.  Here s what I have learned........

I loosen it up as many turns as needed to get it off, and tighten it as much as I physically can with my hand.  I have learned that on our Bayside it cannot be tight enough.  I don t worry about the handle being level.

Experiment while towing.  When I first had it I found myself pulling over on the side of the freeway to crank it down some more.

It does make a world of difference.

SCCSIf you mean one of the friction sway bars here is what my dealer told me.  Tighten using your fore & middle fingers as tight as you can, but don t use your hand.  That way you won t over tighten, and it always seemed to work for me but in the most sever case.

 SCCSSCCS,

I have one, and I tighten it and back off 1/4 of a turn. You will get a feel of this by just looking in your rear view mirror to see how much sway you have. Now you will not get rid of all the sway but a lot. Remember not to back up with the sway bar on the TV. I forget all the time but so far have been lucky.
