Y-GuySteve, interesting that you should post this when you did, I just logged in to do that very same thing, post on the fridge cooling issue I had.  We were gone for 2 weeks and when we arrived at our destination, I had turned the fridge on (AC) and I have an indoor/outdoor thermometer that I have the outdoor probe mounted in the fridge to monitor " changes" , and I noticed that the fridge wasn t cooling as it normally does. Mine has a knob with 1-8 and MAX, and I set it on MAX at first, as I usually do, but it just wasn t cooling...like you I switched to propane after a couple of hours and it cooled " a little"  better, but certainly not MAX even overnight....I was getting concerned...I did have ice cubes freezing in the freezer, but it wasn t as cold as I like to see in the fridge, and I didn t want to have to keep it on MAX for 2 weeks. I turned the factory fridge fan on to see it that would help, and the net result was we stayed 2 weeks the fridge had to run on propane all the time, and the knob was ultimately turned to 6 when I usually have it on 4.  The outside temps were 100+, but I was thinking that the cooling on the unit should have been better than it was, especially at night when the temps got down to the high 60 s, but it never did.
I don t usually have to pre-cool, but I will keep this in mind.

The only other cooling issue I dealt with was I went out for the day and left the AC on cool high and max cold...when I arrived back at camp, it was 85+ degrees  inside and not very cool air coming out....and the foam filter was flapping in the air outlet...final analysis...the compressor was iced up and not working.  I let everything thaw out and then only ran it in cool low and mid range on temp and it was a consistent 78 degrees inside.  It really helps when you let the compressor turn on and off, thus avoiding ice up.

 Thanks for your timely post.
