As the city is constructiing the curbs, we can t park the windstar on the driveway anymore.

It was parked across the road for a few days. This morning all was ok. 15 minutes ago I went out to get more recycle into the containers, and the rear window was broken [>:] Obviously a construction machine hit it and just moved away.

I think I am cursed or something, just two weeks before the trip this had to happpen. Now I have to get it fixed which will cost a fortune .......

Your not alone on this subject!

birolJust learned how much a new one will cost, 400 USD just for the glass. Installation and taxes extra [:(][:(][:(] I am probably looking at 600 usd for this[>:]

If I call insurance they will simply increase my premiums for the next three years which will be enough to pay for this from my pocket after deductible, life sucks [:@]

birolBirol, call the insurance agent,  windows  don t seem to raise the rates like accidents or tickets.....in my old van we had the front windshield replaced 3 times. Seems to be a rock catcher, the van I have now is on it s second windshield. Boy I miss my Zero deductible on the glass. Neither raised the rates any more than they would have increased on a normal basis.

campingboaters

birolI m with ForestCreature.  My agent specifically said window repair is not the same as an accident.  Even if you have a $500 deductible, it would save you $100.

birolIn Massachusetts, there is no such thing as a deductible on glass.  It has no impact on your rates.  There are no " points"  or anything else like that.  If you can identify the construction company, the insurance company will take it up with them themselves, you won t have to get involved, even if you didn t see it happen.  (The insurance company may not collect if you didn t see it happen, but they will try.)

I ve taken care of things myself to avoid insurance premium hikes, but there s nothing to avoid with glass.

birolOur insurance covers all but $50.00. Claims don t raise the rates at all. It may be different in Ontario, but I would check it out!

Definately try this, birol.  If the construction company didn t tell you to move your van, then you should be able to assume it s safe on the curb, like it s always been.  I used to work for an insurance company too.  I d call the construction company and tell them, " My van was out there fine, fifteen minutes later after your trucks worked around there, my window is broken.  What are we going to do about this?"   Just because the worker didn t see it happen (or hear it) doesn t mean he s not libel.  Sort of like when a rock falls off a construction truck and hits your windshield.  You can t prove it was thier truck (most of the time) , but neither can they deny it if they are not positive.  DH works for an insurance appraisel company and he said most consturction companys will just pay because the cost of the window is not worth the hassel.  I d call up and start FREAKING out!!  [:D]

birolby the way, if you don t get any results from the constuction company, call your insurance company.  THEY don t want to pay for that window, and they might have more pull for you.

birol

birolThe car wreck place has them for 94 bucks, I am leaving soon to grab one and install it myself. Then I will freak to the construction company. I don t want to get the insurance involved at all, if I can help it.

Thanks for the advice, I hope it works out this way .....

Jeffrey

birolOh wow!, your going to install a rear window in the Windstar, Yourself?
That s something I wouldn t have a clue how to do.

Make sure you have a enough duct tape on hand before you start.[;)]

birol

birolGot one from the wrecked car place, cost me 35 bucks !!! WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO. Took over an hour to take it out of a wrecked windstar, the only one with a glass, they had two windstars, talk about lucky. I am about to grab my cup of tea and start installing on my windstar, I expect that to take around 5 hours. Oh well, 800 $verses 35 $ plus a day of my time, I guess that is a fair exchange !.

These are tinted glasses, and the tint is not exactly the same, but oh well, who cares. Those of you who refuse to talk to a person whose windstars rear window is a slighlyt different tint should not come to site A48 !!!!! [8D]

Hey, I did proof read Ok ? :)

And I saw it, but I was in a hurry to install the window before the rain started so I said oh well, it is a missing " n" , who cares, I will fix it later. I never bothered to read what it reads. Advantages of not being a native speaker and being in a hurry. That is slang anyways right ? So anyways, It did not register. I am sorry if anyone was offended.

The windows is now firmly in place, took 2 hours of medium hard work, DS helped little bit, the glass is bulky and needs to be held in place till nuts are in place and support its weight little bit.

The tint is brownish on this one and it is a lot more reflective, which actually looks nice (It is from a brown Limited Edition windstar which I also puchased the fog lights and the door hinges). If I have money, and find the right color, one day I will change it to the proper one, work involved is not too much.

I also bought two speaker grills to replace the ones which were damaged by the previous owners dog and did that too.

So, problem solved for 42 dollars :):):)

 I am a happy camper [:D]
