I am thinking that I don t like sleeping bags ..... A sheet and a light blanket shoudl do for me, do I need one ? Does anybody use this setup ? We have air mattresses so I reckon this should work ? No ? yes ? Maybe ?

And the fuel for the grill, I guess I can find it there right ? I do not want to carry that liquid thingie in the car with me all 800 miles , it might spill or smell or whatever. Am I being stupid ? Do you guys all carry it ?

I am getting excited here !

Jeffrey

birolYou haven t tested this stuff out yet?
I thought you would get in a camping trip before the rally?

Sleeping bag........ I don t care them them either, unless it s really really cold.
But, I did find a Coleman fleece sleeping bag, light enough & warm enough for me. And only $ 12-13. So now I use that.

Fuel for the grill? Do you mean Propane, those little bottles are usually no problem to haul. Most CG s do sell them, so they are usually easy to find.

birolbirol, we ve never used sleeping bags - to hot and humid around here.  It most likely will be down Virginia too.  We just use sheets and a regular, light blanket.
Almost all campgrounds sell small bottles of propane, and if this one doesn t there s always the Wal-Mart down the road!!

birolthis grill uses the liquid explosive stuff :):):):)
Tanks for the sleeping bag thingie.

As for testing it, the weather turned little bit nice just this week, and it is still raining and raining and raining as I type this :(

birolbirol if your stove uses the liquid Coleman fuel I will have a gallon of it along and you can use mine.  You don t have to bring yours along.

We have sleeping bags, but we use them like comforters when it is colder out.  Sheets and a blanket or two should work.  Unless it gets colder than expected.

birolBirol, you certainly are not going to need sleeping bags in Viriginia in June!!! You d be better off bringing along an electric fan or something to help cool the tent down at night. Since it is the mountains, it should be a little cooler in the evening, but a light blanket is probably more than you ll need. Being Canadian the heat down here in Virginia is likely to be a bit much for you anyway!!!! [;)]

As for the grills, they use those little propane bottles, they are self sealed and not possible to spill them, they are under pressure (low pressure = LP) and when you move it from the equipment it just closes it s own valve. You can probably buy the little one pound bottles right at the campground store, though they would be a lot cheaper at ANY Wally World you pass along the way!!!

birolBirol, everyone is right on about your not needing a sleeping bag in VA in June but for future reference, we always carry a sleeping bag, the rectangular kind that opens up completely flat.  It has a fleece interior and is rated for 20 degrees (F).  When it is cold, we put this on top of the mattress, then a sheet.  We also use a blanket and down comforter.  We do most of our camping in the colder months avoiding the summer crowds as much as possible.  We also travel with the small propane bottles, one is usually partly empty and we also carry one or more backups.  Never had a problem.

 birolCLiff,

I forgot that your grills use the propane gas, I was concentrating on Cavman s grill which uses the liquid fuel. Now I have to choose one I guess.

I can t believe it is only 9 days now ! It will be so much fun ....

birolBirol, if you bring the white fuel grill, there is a Walmart in Galax (9ish miles 16ish kms???) they usually sell the Coleman fuel if the campground does not, this Walmart is a Supercenter.  take a deep breath, remember to BREEEAAATH!! You are going to hyper ventilate if you do not calm down.

As for your original question, I am bringing a ceramic heater, 2 comforters and 4 sleeping bags as well as sheets.  I did see Coleman Cottonwood sleeping bags (they are fleecy inside and out) for $19.99 each, also a Walmart.  They can be opened and used as a comforter, may pick a couple up this week and leave the comforters at home.

birolBirol~  I would recommend the sheets but make sure you use something as a mattress pad.  Either an actual mattress pad or a blanket laid down first before you put the sheet down.  If you don t use some sort of pad, you will tend to sweat from only having a flimsy sheet seperating you from the vinyl of the mattress.
