I like the way the states are divided up.  I always thought that New York should be included with the " New England"  states, seeing that it is very similiar in weather, landscapes and having quaint towns and villages!  They even have school closed during the same breaks in February and April.  
 Just an observation on my part![]

Sorry suzone but not all of the states have the same school vacations.
 
 
 Dw and I are both teachers but teach in different states, (NH and VT) we don t have the same February and April vacations and it is a bummer.
 
 But I am glad that NY was included in the group. []

We didn t want to use Mid-Atlantic in our club name because we have people camping with us form further north.  NY is one I have seen in both areas.

Hi Gary, You just sent in for your reservations!  You re slacking!  Just kidding, you still have plenty of time, at least until April, then the choice sites are taken!  DH and I got the last week of August for vacation again, so you can guess where I reserved a site[]

Hi Sue! Most of the state parks won t let you reserve until after the 1st of the year!!! I handle the details for our church Fellowship Club s Camping weekend, so in order to get 15 or 20 sites together, I need to book early, so of course I just add on the other dates that my wife and I want to camp!!
 I really only have Mem Day, 4th July, Labor Day and a Long Weekend at lake Umbagog booked as of now.
 How long a drive from say Albany, NY to Rollins Pond? We d like to camp there and have my daughter and her family join us. They would be driving up I-87 from New Jersey. Thanks!

Gary, (and all others, too[], from Albany, NY to Rollins Pond will be about 3 to 3 1/2 hours.  I87 north,  to exit 30, then Rt.73 to Saranac Lake. It s just west of there.  I believe I can talk our oldest daughter into joining us also.  They re coming over from Burlington, and generally take the ferry to Ausable Chasm. It s really a beautiful ride.  Even though she enjoys Rollins and her time with us, she bought us the canoe & kayak guide of Quiet Water, NH & VT edition!  She thought that we might want to try some of the rivers and streams close to her![]
 Actually Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge looks like our type of kayaking waters.  Have you been there, and any camping nearby, (besides Lake Carmi)?[]

Hi Sue, I m not very familiar with that section of Vermont even after 6 years of taking son and daughter back and forth to UVM!!! I ll look it up in my camping book and see what there is. Probably email you with suggestions. The Quiet Water series are great books! I have all of them. My favorite paddle in Vermont is Green River Reservoir, just north of Morrisville, VT (Paddle it on a weekday if you can!) In New Hampshire my favorite paddle is the entire lake Umbagog, Magaloway & Androscoggin River area near Errol, NH lots of Moose, Loons, Osprey and Bald Eagles!
