I have just sent my check for Bunk End Covers to PopupGizmos and the lead time is 3 weeks.  I will be going on a 10 trip to Cherrystone in Cheriton, VA, June 28.  My question is, in order to prevent further staining of the canvas, what material can I make temporary covers from? The only purpose for this short term fix is to prevent further staining. [8D]

Joe BuskirkI don t know if all Home Depots carry it, but Reflectix material is reflecting and it will keep your bunk ends cleaned off.

I was going to make covers out of Reflectix, but didn t get around to it....[&:]

Also, I ve seen silver tarps at Walmart and places like that, but I ve heard they can leave a residue on your vinyl. Maybe someone will post here about that. You could also use regular tarps, for the time you are waiting for your bunk end covers, just to keep the ends clean.

Joe BuskirkWE used the reflective tarps from Cabelas, we used them  at cherrystone last year they worked well, this year we got ac installed I cant wait to try it out!!

Joe BuskirkIf all you are looking for is something temporary until your covers come in, go to a surgical supply store and get OR sheeting.  It s blood proof, feels like cotton and comes in a variety of sizes and doesn t cost much.  It is zero reflective however.

Joe BuskirkWhy just not use a tarp or clear plastic in the mean time.  I wouldn t go out and buy Reflectix as its not cheap and since you just need something for a quick fix I d get a tarp about the same size.

Joe BuskirkTry Wall Mart for survival blankets probably the least expensive way to go there in the camping section also will work to provide side wall protection from the sun just take lots of clamp type cloths pins.

Joe BuskirkSince (and I m guessing) the majority of popuppers survive without bunk end covers completely, why not just pass and wait til the real McCoy arrives and use on the next trip?

Joe BuskirkIf you contact Bob at Popupgizmo s I bet he will make sure you get them in time for your trip.  I didn t ask him, but posted that I had a trip coming up and he made sure I had them before the trip.

Joe BuskirkOrdered mine a couple weeks ago and am hoping they come in before the end of the week! I think it s going to be a hot  4th camping weekend! I can t wait. I ve never been camping this time of year because it was just too hot for me. Hopefully with the bunk end covers and the AC we ll be able to sleep!

Joe BuskirkThe bunk end covers are great. You will have to watchto make sure leaves and such do not get in between the cover and the end. I have a few nasty stains from a leaves that got in between.

With the hybrid, I can fold up and not take the cover off, that may be what happened to mine, giving the leaves plenty of time to turn my cover brown in leaf print design...hey maybe I can get more this year and next year have a camo top[8D].

Joe BuskirkI was a litte disappointed that my bunk end covers didn t come before the 4th weekend, but even without them...with temps in the mid 90s and quite humid, the camper stayed so cool that we could not comfortably turn the Airconditioner above the higher area of the Low Cool range.  On High Cool we could have used the PU for the worlds largest Extreme Cooler!  [;)]  I m a really hot blooded person who s almost always warm when everyone else is cold so I can t imagine anyone using this AC on the high setting!

So, are these things going to just let us turn the air down even further?  And as for using them to keep heat in....do you just turn them around to the other side or something??

Joe BuskirkYes if you turn them over they will help keep the heat in.  You can also put them under your mattress to help stay warmer.

Joe BuskirkTerrific,  can t wait to try them out! All these little creature comforts we never had in the tent ! LOL   I did buy one of the heated mattress pads for the beds. I m hoping that will be a help to keeping the cold out too!   We just put an inch and a half memory foam mattress topper on top of the king bunk and that made a tremendous difference in comfort too.  The regular egg crate just didn t seem to be enough.
