Does anyone have any ideas what I should check next?

My brake controler flickered then went blank like it wasn t connected.
Then I tried it on the other van, and it is blank too.

So I m pretty sure the problem is something on the trailer.
I checked the wires right back to the tires and don t see any breaks or bad connections.
What would cause this? Too me it s like something corroded or a wire came loose. Is there something else simple I could look for?

It s in it s 5th season ( 99), so anything is possible.

JeffreyJeff, with most brake controllers even it the trailer isn t plugged in to the TV the display will show something. My bet s  the controller gone south. Got anyone you can get to loan you one to try in it s place?

JeffreyMike4947, Thanks....I have a controller on both of my vans, They are different brands. The drawtite controler, has a little light whenever I hit the brakes and that works. But that s all it does, the other one doesnt have a light unless it s hooked to the trailer.

Tested both vans again, When hooked to the trailer neither of them work.
But when I go down the road, once in a while, they flicker.

Something sure seems to be loose.
I called the dealer, and they don t have time to look at it, before I go to SD next week. But they thought maybe a bad or loose magnet? Whatever that means?
Well I will keep looking, I don t really want to disassemble them, I might not be able to get them back together again.[&:]

I could go without brakes if I have too, my trailer isnt that heavy, but I d rather not.

I m just hoping I can find something simple, but no luck so far.

AB, I don t know what that meant?

JeffreyJeff, that flickering you mentioned sounds like you ve got either corrosion starting in the TV/PU connector or somewhere there s a wire loose or crimped.
IMHO start by cleaning out the TV connector; since both vehicles act the same with the PU; with some contact cleaner and cue tips. If you see any white in there that the corrosion.

 JeffreyI ll try it.

They look clean, but who knows maybe?

 Thanks

Jeffrey

JeffreyI found a little hitch and trailer repair shop that could fix it.

Wire pulled out of one of the magnetics? So they replaced them both magnetics.

And they repacked the bearings too, which I needed and they probably had to do it anyway, to get to the brakes. I think?
