mike4947If I knew you might sell it I would look at it more carefully :) I could probably import it, should not be a p[roblem, there is a 15 year old limit or something ridicilious like that. It looks like an 8  box right ?

The shasta is gone, the flagstaff we saw sucks sucks ....... until we can get something we can afford, we are going to rough it with the tent. Air bags prevent most of the roughing though :) When the time for you to upgrade comes, lets talk ....... Be ready for my 1,000 C$ offers though, just ask wynot [;)]

What model is that PU by the way ? next time we meet I will have to look at it carefully :)

Firefyter-Emt

mike4947It is a  91 Starcraft Meteorite 8  box. The canvas is good, I just had my baby sister sew in 2 new screens (It looks pretty good too, it was done with a machine) It has that useless icebox in it and a 2 burner stove with a sink that is about it.. On the outside I have the awning and a screen room for it.  But you would also get my custom frame work up front and the storage box! It has a 12v battery, and is wired to the 7 pin plug to get charged while towing if you are so equipt. (I also have a back-lit gauge with a push button switch that can be accesed from just opening the door, while poped up or not, to check the condition of the battery.)  It also has a flush mount 2"  reciever in the rear that I custom installed which is great for a bike rack. (the added weight on the front will nicely be off set by a rear rack instead of making it tow poorly.) If you have not been before, check my website for a lot of details about the camper.. (BTW it tows like a dream and weighs under 2k) I have towed this camper for over 10k with no problems with any of my frame mods and I think anyone who has seen it can attest to it being top notch as well.

As for the price.. It is a good camper for $1000... I do want to stand pretty firm on that.. It is in great shape, and just some of the mods I have done to it alone are worth $500.. Take a peek [link=http://www.yankeetoys.org/lee/frame.htm]here [/link] at this mod alone... [:)] This is my favorite one.

Just because they are old don t mean they are bad.. BUT look closely at them.

Exactly....there are many OLDER PU s out there that are still in great shape! Our cabinetry, etc still looked almost in showroom condition, even at 15 years old (at the time).

QuoteI say bugger about the tires.. Figure on buying new ones anyway, you normaly only get two or three years out of them.

After an almost endless search for best price on tires for my PU, I found them premounted and everything, at the good ol  local Wal-mart. Lesson: The tires can easily be replaced, and fairly cheaply without compromising safety. Of course, on a larger PU, tires might not be available from Walmart or similar store.

Quote(In fact, my propane has been on the same tank for 3 years now.. it is not even OPD compliant)

Same here....we only use it for cooking, and DON T cook outside. On its second year on the tank, and it was used when we got it! If a camper has a stove that doesn t/won t work, you could at least use a temporary fix using the two burner portables at Walmart that are cheap. That s what I used when I tent camped, and still carry it in the PU!

I know I ve referenced Walmart quite a bit, but I assume there is a Walmart or similar type franchise north of the border. Hope this helps!

mike4947I will run this by DW when the time comes for you to upgrade and me being able to afford it. It looks like a good PU !

The ice box can be changed with a fridge right ? I had read about that being possible .....
