Starcraft DadI ve read a few stories like this and it just makes me feel smug.  [8D]

On our first trip, the kids and I picked up the pop-up from the dealer, drove it to the campground, and had everything set up and hooked up by the time my husband got there. We even managed to get all of our gear stowed and everything looking shipshape.

My kids were a big help, especially the 14-year-old and the 10-year-old.  The 7-year-old helped as much as he could, and the 4-year-old took a lot of my attention so the older kids had the opportunity to do a lot of the set-up on their own.

It was 100 degrees out when we got to the campground, so we opened up some cream sodas after unhitching the trailer.  Then the kids cranked up the top, put down the stabilizers, and pulled out the beds.  The girls hit a snag with the dinette, but we soon got that figured out.  Then we went inside to put up all the support bars, make the beds and set up the door.  I left them stowing gear while I did the hook-ups, lit the water heater, and got everything outside set up.

It took us about 40 minutes from pulling into the campground.

Breaking camp took a little longer, because we swept out the trailer and scrubbed the floor, counters, and fridge before cranking it down.  We were out in just under an hour.

I guess I should be grateful that my kids are such good workers.

Starcraft DadNothing like helpful kids. My DS was so helpful, it is amazing ... I think I like him. When we get the PU, I am sure he will take charge of setting it up and popping it down. I think at 15, he might do a decent job of it too.
