I deceide to go with the Cotoc, it already had these states in them.[:)]
To get things rolling I will be planning a trip Rocky Gap State Park in Maryland.  www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/western/rockygap.html

Loop A,  (At this time every site is open for this date). I will be contacting them on Monday to see how many sites I can block for us.  If interested in joining, just post your name and how many will be attending.
The first campout will only be a campfire everynight and one pot luck dinner TBA.
I hope to see some of you there.

Mahaffey-FamilyWe may be interested in going.  It looks to be about 170 miles from us.  Do you know anything about the park?

HersheyGirl

Mahaffey-FamilyI want to go, but will have to check dates first with the DH, but he is STILL out of town.  Rocky Gap is suppose to be a great park with lots of hiking and biking trails.  Friends go there every year and just rave about it.  This is one park on my list to go to.  Also, in one of the past PUT magazines, there is a very good article about Rocky Gap, by Nancy Rapa.[8D][8D][8D]

tlhdoc

Mahaffey-FamilyBeckie how far is the park from where you live?

Does anyone know anything about the sites?  I like private sites.

Tim5055

Mahaffey-FamilyTracy, we had a mini rally at Rocky Gap in May  01.  I really liked the sites, but like any campground some are better than others.

The " A"  loop is one of the pet loops and I thought it was very nice.  The U sheaped sites along the lake are a little nicer than the inside sites.

tlhdoc

Mahaffey-FamilyTim are there any sites you can recommend?  The campground map does not show the campsites, just the camping loops.  I want to make my reservation but have no idea about the sites.

 Mahaffey-FamilyBarbara,

This sounds good.  How far is it from us (Staunton/Lexington) to there?  I guess my brain is fried from being outside so much, I couldn t make heads or tails out of the directions in that link you posted.

After a few weeks back in school, I ll need a weekend away!!:)

I m assuming from Tim s comments that they take pets?

 Let me know!

 Tracy,

The map does show individual sites.  Just click on the " A"  of A loop and it will open a new individaul loop map.

Like I said, any along the lake (#11 - 20)

camper4pack

Mahaffey-FamilyWe might be interested in attending!
I will let you know after I check the schedule and with the rest of the families schedule, as the kids will be back in school.

Mahaffey-FamilyTim thanks for letting me know[:D].  I guess I didn t try hard enough.

Mahaffey-Family

 Mahaffey-FamilyTracy,
If you click on the reservations , give it the information that is needed it will tell you about the sites.

 Springer02,
It looks like it may be 3.5 hours from Staunton.  If you want we can travel together from there.

I am going to make my reservations today, through the web site.

Anyone that wants to go may make there s through the web,  just post your reservations and site number, I will keep them updated.

springer02

Mahaffey-FamilyWe ll be on site A-17.  I called the park directly and talked with a very friendly lady who told me to call their 800 reservation number.  The guy I talked to at the 800 number was nice as well.

This will be a very welcome trip as it s after the first few weeks of school!!!!!!!

Mahaffey-FamilyDang, think I ll be in the labor room then!!  [;)]  Have a great time - it sounds like an awesome time to go - in the Fall!  Have fun!

SheBantam

Mahaffey-FamilyTracy, you were mentioning about Traps being too far. I have the same concern about this trip, I think that it is about 4 to 5 hours for me, too far for a weekend. Would love to go and maybe might if I can get my friend inBaltimore to go with me, but I know Raymond will not drive this far for a regular weekend.
