We had to take our Mesa in for service.  Well, the took it into the body shop.

The reasons, there are a couple.

 1)   The Roof seal -- in the front center of camper it doesn t touch.  Same for the back but not quite as bad.  The seal hangs over the sides of the camper quite a bit.  Hopefully new roof :) but will probably just get a new seal.  As long as it doesn t leak, i ll be happy.

 2)   The storage trunk side door leaked :(   The panel against the wall where the door is, is all swelled and the nuts and bolts that hold the door and the front corner roof latch are all rusted.  I found that with it just haveing the one lock (top center of the door) that it doesn t allow the top sides to seal very well, and if something inside the trunk puts the slightest presser on the door it will cause it to be open a little bit.  Hopefully they replace the trunk side door with one of the new ones that has the key lock on the top left and the thumb lock on the top right.  These doors look to seel much better.

 3)   On the screen door, the solid panel that slides up, the left side latch is real hard to slide over to open. also when you go to close the window panel you really have to slam it up in order for the latch to catch.

I have to call them this afternoo to see what they re going to do.

Anyone else have any of these problems.  I know several have had roof issues but what about 2 and 3?

LovecampingI know of at least 3 other Coleman s with the storage door problem[:@] You would think they would at least get something right...at least once! Haven t had a problem with the screen door.

LovecampingWell, heard from service. They are going to replace the roof seal.  They said coleman will not do anything about the storage trunk side door.  Coleman said its only covered for 1 year, period.  I called Coleman and tried to get them to cover it.  I said I thought it was poor design by having the lock in the top center and that it allows the top sides to not seal properly.  They didn t budge.

I had service give me a quote on the repair.  They have to replace the inside panel on the door side and the front panel, plus the flooring under the vinyl and the vinyl (although the vinyl looks fine).  Plus the seal around the door.

Now for the shocker:  Parts are $350  (that isn t too bad), LABOR is $1750[:@]

So, now I am going to call my insurance agent and see if they will cover it.  I sure hope so.  If not, then i ll just get the parts and do it myself.

The service dept. said they will install 2 locks on each end (top) of the door and put a thunb lock in the middle of the side door (no extra charge) this way it will make a better seal.

Over 2,000 in repairs and the camper only cost over 7,000.  Hope I have better luck with the insurance company.

Well, here s hoping the insurance covers the damage.

Sorry its so long,  Just a little frustrated [:o]

LovecampingWell,  we heard back from the ins. co.  And they are NOT going to cover the water damage [:@]

So it s off to home depot for some hard board and particle board and we ll fix it ourself.

Then when i called the service dept.  they said that they talked to Coleman again and that coleman has agreed to replace the roof.  At 1st I thought this was a good thing (and may be) but then I heard its going to cost $300 in shipping for the roof.  They said that the roof is warrentied for life as long as you own the camper but after year 1 you have to pay frieght[: (][:@][: (][:o][: (][:@]

I asked if it will be a ABS roof or the new Style roof.  Service wasn t sure, they are checking on that.  In the mean time, i called coleman (tried to get them to cover the shipping -- They didn t budge) I asked them if it would be an ABS roof or new style?  They said new style.  So i guess we will pay the 300 for shipping the new roof.

Oh.... Just can t wait to go camping....  it got to get better[&:]

LovecampingSorry to hear about your problems.  I just had a new " free"  $300 roof put on my PU.  Make sure you open it on the dealers lot and check that everything is correct before you take it home.  I had several issues with my new roof.
