RE: I need help please

Our next lake trip is coming up...like next Thursday or Friday.
 
 I am trying to think of ways of getting out of working and actually enjoying at least ONE trip to the lake without working my arse off!!
 
 These are the excuses I have thought of so far:
 
 Sprained my ankle (wrap an ace bandage around my leg)
 
 Broke my arm (wear a sling, but this one would also keep me from enjoying the water)
 
 Having a coworker write me a note saying I need Mental Health days off...(not sure aunt would believe this one though...she thinks I am permanently Mental. And please remember before critizing me on this statement that I am indeed a mental health therapist)

I have to agree with the co-worker on this one!  I can relate to it so well!!  This is the main reason I don t want to have the baby at home - I NEED the 3 days off!  Bed to myself, being served three meals a day, people bringing flowers!  Plus, I get the added bonus when I leave of a baby!! []  I can put up with 5-8 hours of agonizing pain for that!!  []

 Have you tried the evasive approach?  That way you don t have to lie.  Something along the lines of, " I will not be able to make it in today.  I m so sorry, blah, blah, blah.  I ll definiately be in Monday, sorry, hope I m not causing any inconvience, etc"   The only problem with this is they might come straight out and say, " why not" , but I ve found if you rush forward into it, gushing, they think there is a legitimate reason and usually don t think of questioning it until you return to work the following week.  Then you could say something like, " Don t ask"  and give a forboding look.  If your a really good employee there then you could just say in a low voice, " I d rather not discuss it"  and usually people leave it alone.  I don t know if this works either, because it is deceptive.  You could be stuck with just working your tail off and appreciate the week end even more!  []  Either way, you are going away, so have a great time! []
