Geez I hate when these TS are in the gulf. now I have to go drag out some camping equipment from the PU.  Claudette doesn t look to be too bad, but I ll get out the coleman stove and lanterns just in case. Plus I have to go buy all the prep stuff- batteries, canned goods water etc. (I live on the Texas gulfcoast between Houston and Corpus Christi)
My house is all electric so if the power goes no cooking takes place. If worse comes to worse, we can pop up the PU after the storm and camp in the driveway[:D]

 StarryartStarryart,

With an all electric house and lots of wind, you need to get one of [link=http://www.solar-electric.com/windgenerators.html]THESE![/link] LOL [;)]

StarryartJust get a big old generator.  When the whole neighbor hood is dark you can be the light in the storm.[:D]

StarryartI simpothize with you, where I live in West Virginia everytime the wind blows or we get a thunderstorm the power goes out. If it doesn t we re suprised. The power company in our area doesn t like to cut trees very often. Last Febaruary the power in the western part of the state, southeastern Ohio and eastern Kentucky was out for at least a week due to ice. I battled it with a Coleman Duel Fuel Latern and a 12 volt tv powered from my pu deep cycle battery.  We heat and cook with propane so that s not an issue.

Starryartand from Miami (ie where Andrew hit!) my sympathies as well.

we didn t have any scares last year or the year before, so i m a bit concerned about this.  my definition of scares is when you have to schlepp in all the garden furniture, 3 kayaks, park bench etc.

getting rid of the heavy park bench via an ad in the Flyer is on my to do list.

trying to get rid of enough stuff so i can fit my PU in the garage is also a fervent wish!!
