We decided while we were at Vail lake this weekend to go ahead and book a spot for Labor Day. It was a nice weekend, I expected the pool to be jammed packed but the park was MAYBE 70% full. when I asked about Labor day they seemed to have plenty of spots left. We are going Thurs Aug 28th - Mon Sept 1st  (kids & I flying solo until Fri PM)we are in spot 25. all tho there isn t as much shade on the " mesa"  there is less traffic and the spot are not a close together.

Mikey & family: the lake there is a " members only " lake[: (] but its off of 79 south and Lake skinner, Lake Perris, Lake Elsinore, and some " fishing pond lake thing"  in Corona. I live Anaheim hills (20 min east of Disney) and it takes about 1- 1 1/2 hrs to get there depending on traffic.  the above lakes mentioned I would think were within 30 min. drive max. but don t quote me on it.

We are camping with the Darksiders at Lake Isabella RV Resort over Labor Day Weekend.  We have not camped here before and really have no idea as to whether or not it is any good.  Looks like it is a basic RV type parking lot campground (I found it on the internet)  Come on up and join us if you like--we d love to see you especially since you can t make the Casitas trip.  This invite goes to other ScCampers (or non-ScCampers) too.

Dee4jhey the place looks okay..I have fun no matter where I go. as of right now Dan is a no, he doesn t want to go to BFE, He would like to camp closer with scholl starting when we get back. but we are going to Cachuma in Dec. which is just as far. I ll still work on him a bit, what sites are you in so If he agrees I can make reservations next to you hopefully.

Dee4jNo plans as yet,  We would like to go somewhere tho.  Maybe we can all meet up somewhere ???  I was looking for a place that might have some fishing activity seeing that im into fishing :-)

 Jeanne,

I have heard good things about Rivernook cg which is in Kernville, just a few miles from Lake Isabella.  Unfortunately, they don t have a Web site and the info that is on the Internet doesn t include pics.  It s a place I have wanted to stay, but I think it s better for spring or fall--too hot in the summer.  Apparently, a small stream runs through the middle of it and the kids can play in it.  Anyway, if you get a chance, you may want to check it out.  It could be a future rally (mini or otherwise) locale! [:D]

Dee4jLori, I ll check the Kernville campsite out when we are up there and report back.

We have back-to-back camping trips planned for the next two weekends.  First Casitas and then Lake Isabella.  Casitas is supposed to be in the low 90 s and Lake Isabella will be in the high 90 s.  This will give us a chance to test the bunk end covers I got Jim for Father s Day.  We used them at Newport Dunes in July but it wasn t quite as warm.

Can t wait til Friday...I ve got the camping fever!

Deidre, could you please e-mail me.  I am trying to collect the $$ for the trick or treat rally and do not have your e-mail address.  Thanks

P.S. sad to say but we aren t camping over Labor day this year.  I am hoping to maybe head to Arizona to see my aunt and uncle for a couple of days.  I have never towed or setup our camper so I think this will be a hotel trip.

Dee4jHappy Labor Day weekend everyone.  We are getting ready to head out to Lake Isabella RV park for some camping, DO cooking, boating, skiing and sea doo riding!  I m hoping the traffic gods are looking out for us!

 Have a good one.

 Lori,
We tried to check out this campground over the weekend but they don t allow drive throughs on the weekend!  It does look like a nice spot...lots of trees, next to the Kern river and a creek and lots of amenities.  Definitely has potential for a rally.  The Darksiders got the flyer with info re the sites, etc.  I ll have her send you a copy if you want it.

You are right about being hot in the summer...I would say it hit over 100 this past weekend.  The campground that we stayed at (Lake Isabella RV resort) was more of a mobile home park...lots of residents.  However, it suited our needs because it was very close to the boat launch and we spent most of the weekend on the lake (feeling a bit sore today from my water skiing attempts!).  The stars (and Mars too) were amazing because it was so clear.  We also saw a gorgeous sunrise over the lake.  Had a very yummy DO stew, peach cobbler and sausage/apple cornbread...it was a fun weekend (thanks, again Moose for introducing us to this extremely calorie laden contraption!).
