Yesterday we were going into a new house bring constructed, same model with the one we are trying to purchase, to show our DD to see her new room. She had never seen the house up close and inside, and this one drywalled, ready for tiles and cabinets was an ideal one for her to get a feeling for it. Her room would be as big as the room she had in our old mansion, so we were excited. We were to this house (Me and DW) so many times before, so I trotted in, and DD following, me and all of a sudden DW decides to step sideways from the worn path ([8D],the plank which goes into the house) for no reason, rushing forwards and steps on this huge nail, all the way thru. The nail was proruding 1.5"  from the wood, which all of it went into her feet. And it was a thick nail.

I saw her go OUCH OUCH and throws herself on to the ground (Thanks God not onto another nail which was present). Now she is a very strong woman, she felt like fainting, I tried to make her situp on the stairs she could not. She said it is hurting too much. I stupidly spent a minute talking to her thinkinh she would be able to ealk after a short while. SHe just sat and started to cry and almost faint again. Home being a minute away, I told DW to stay with mom,  I ran home, grabbed her purse (hoping her health card was inside) and drove like a maniac and carried her to the car.

Her health car was not in her purse so another mad sash to the house under the neighbours weird looks, grab her card, and she is in so much pain, I flew to the hospital. I passed two police cars, doing 120 KM, at 80 km limit roads and nobody stopped me. I don t think I would get a tiket but anyways.

So we arrived at the hospital emergency dept. and because of SARS precautions me and DD could not enter the depts itself. WE left her with nurses who carried her in, and she promptly fainted inside. Strecher and staff and she wakes up looking at a ton of people over her [8D] She always seeked attraction but I think she over did it this time.

Anyways, she went in at 7 pm, me and DD waited outside (It rained hard for a while) until 9:50. Chatted with a very nice gentleman whose wife was also in, and she comes out smilies sort of. They checked her feet, nothing torn or bad happened, nail in and out, will bleed little bit, antibiotic creme, a HUGE band aid like thing and a shot of tetanos of course.

So we come home, and I am so optight about the house and the hospital, my heart is not slowing down, and she breaks into a laughing crisis ....... We sort of started to sleep around 1:30 am or so ... it was weird. And I started to tell myself we should not upgrade the house and it is a wrong decision and that we are making a big mistake ......

So here this morning with 4 hours of sleep I wake up with mixed feelings about the whole thing, DW unable to walk for at least a couple of days and no TEA because  we are washing the stuff we make tea with, it is in the dishwasher. SO I am gonna have a cup of coffe and crunch some more numbers ........

A very easy day turned into a nightmare by a small accident .....

birolOh Birol....how horrible for the DW.    Don t panic..you ve just had an emotional experience...on top of all the excitement you ve already had with the PU and the house and everything all at one time!  Give it 24 hours...don t back out now...you ll see it more clearly after things calm back down.  Bless you.. you have a lot of new and exciting things going on in your lives right now.   [;)]

birolGlad it wasn t serious.  Just take a deep breath and relax.  Once you have some decent sleep and tea, things will start to look better.

birolDang, Birol.... the DW doesn t do *exactly* as you --- and she gets nailed for it. [;)]

Sorry about the lovely Babette s foot. That can be so painful. Seems like it was almost a right of passage when we where kids-- each of my brothers and I did the very same thing while prowling around construction sites. There ain t nothing like feeling a sharp pain in your foot, lifting it up to see why it hurts, and having a hunk of 2x4 come up with it. Dunno what hurt worse when you were a kid: the nail, or that dreaded tetanus shot.

 Hope she heals quickly.

birol

birolShe is lying down on the couch next to me, complaining about her arm (The tetanos shot), and her feet (nail). And here I am serving her coff, cookies and trying to tidy the house up for showings. Sigh, she is good with that kind of stuff, I will never be able to make it look as good as she can .... I will try my best though.

And yes, she didn t do exactly like I did , avioding the nail :):):) The thing is , I am too careful sometimes ..... I drive people crazy with my precautions, she is a happy chirping bird, you gotta meet her one day :)  I am trying to persuade her to post here [;)]

What makes you think I am depressed ?

birolOuch! Poor Babette! [:(]  Just give her plenty of sympathy and pain meds and she ll heal quickly.  Sometimes pure concern and pity makes the healing happen quickly!
When I was 15 years old I tripped into a leather sewing needle that was half way out of our living room rug.  These are the type that are curved.  Not really any bleeding, just a small red mark.  It hurt like crazy and I found a piece of it on the carpet.  A month later I was still limping around and my Mom decided to take me to the foor doctor.  After x-rays we were all shocked to see the other half of the needle in my foot!  I ended up having surgery to remove it, and then another surgery to remove a small cyst that developed there.  Crazy!
Don t have any bad feelings about the house buying.  Accidents happen all the time, and you and your family will have a ton of great memories at your new place!  Besides, if you back out now, where will you put your new PU??!! [:D] [;)]

birolI am pampering her,  feeding her, her wish is my command these days [:D]

birolBirol I hope she is up and about soon.  Don t let this influence your decision on the house.  It was just an accident.

birol

birolThanks Tracy, she is not able to step on it yet, but she is moving around somehow, hoping, or leaning on me. I am cleaning the house for the weekend, we are hoping for at least another 3 or 4 showings.

We learned that to discharge the current mortgage will cost 4,500 bucks [:@] We will ask the new bank to eat it, if they can t or won t , worst case I am hoping they will pay half, and merge the remainder into the mortgage as we have no money to pay that. I am glad it is not higher, the new bank was estimating around 8,000 C$. We were going to drop the issue if that was the case. As the new mortgage will be a lot lower, we will save around 3,500 C$ in 5 years .... so it is not like we will be really paying it in the grand scheme of things.

We will proceed with the  purchase providing we get approved and the house sells what we think it will for .... Fingers crossed.
