Okay time for me to whine a bit here!

So I am working this week, going about my business, seeing my clients (over half whom don t have ac). I use to look forward to getting in my car after a session and getting to cool off a bit. But this week the temperatures have been in the 100 s with no breeze or clouds. Suddenly my car ac gets some kinda demon from hell in it and decides to blow hot air if I have to stop a  light or stop sign. Now if I am going down the highway it works just fine, or if I can at least keep a constant speed of around 40 (of course all the speed limits here in town are 25 or 35).
I can just see me getting pulled over and saying..

" well officer you see I have to speed or I will be driving in the bounds of hell so I really don t think you should give me a ticket"

Don t think that would really work. So anyway Alaska sounds really good to me right now!

Luckily my neighbor is a mechanic and is going to fix it this weekend (I know he is because I have faith).

At least if I was camping in this miserably hot weather I could go jump in the lake!!

 ShirleyTAwwwww,

Sorry to hear about the AC. We have no ac, and I love cooling of in the car while going shopping etc .... Hope he can fix it cheap and quickly ....

Turn Key

 ShirleyTShirleyT,

I m not an expert on this but I would check to see if the belt driving the AC compressor is worn/slipping.  This would cause loss of cooling at low engine speed.  Depending on what your driving, it can be a very easy fix and it s most likely the first thing I d try.

 Hope this helps.

birol

ShirleyTShirleyT did your friend fix it ?

ShirleyT

birolHe left his gauges in work car and it is at the shop since he had to drive a big truck in for an alignment. I did get the freon and he is going to get the gauges, so maybe it will be fixed tomorrow or the next day.

 But for more bad news...

My big ac unit in the house is not working during the day. My theory is that the weather is getting too hot and the sun beats right down on it from around 1pm to about 5-6pm and it makes the compressor quit. I now have two window units in my living room, had to take one out of my daughters room. She has been sleeping with me anyway. I just moved the other ac in there this evening so not sure how it is working yet. So far it does feel cooler. One ac is 6100 BTU s the other is 5000 BTU s. The big one in the den (by the computer) is about 15,000 I think, really not sure.

Called the landlord and he says he doesn t provide or repair ac in his houses. This one was in the house when I moved in and he says it was here when he bought the house so I am on my own. I have it on right now and it is cooling. Guess I will just have to survive the rest of the summer with no ac during the hot afternoon hours by the computer.

ShirleyTYou seem to be having big AC problems.  Car and house, wow.  If you move to Alaska you might end up having heating problems.[:D]  I think you should stay put.

birol

ShirleyTIf the AC was working when you moved in, doesn t it become part of the lease and has to be kept running ? Unless excluded speifically in your contract that is ...

Good luck with the heat [&:]
