 Hi All,

Have this opportunity in Sept to take my camper up to NJ for two weeks while I am working. Of course I will be staying at a local campgrounds within the work area. Have never done this before so really do not know what to expect. Has anyone done this? They say after training each day my time is mine. Should I take the chance?

whitestar505If you can get a look at the facilities and they look OK, I d jump on it!!!

whitestar505What do you mean, take the chance??!!   What a great opportunity!   Plus, think of the money you ll save, no motel, no eating out, well, maybe a little.   We did it once, not the PU, but a TT we used to have, and DH was working up north.   Some of the crew stayed in motels, but we (this way I got to go too) camped, and it was great.   The guys came over in the evenings to hang around (and eat), and DH could relax in his own surroundings.

whitestar505My father was a union pipe fitter and did powerhouse shut downs, he started with a 13  trailer, that was too small for two (mom and dad), then went to a 26  trailer then got a great deal on a fivver...a big thing (not high like the new ones, but long)... he lived in this while working and looking for work all over the country.

If you have the time, I would check out the campgrounds around where you are having your training. I did see that one listed in a NJ Camping guide I got at the Transportation Center in Cape May over the weekend.

Also it will depend when your training is and if there is availability. I cannot get into Frontier Town in MD unless I want to move every day. and I cannot get a weekend at Knoebels Park, except during the week and then I have to vacate Friday.

whitestar505It sounds like a great opportunity that will save you money.  Go for it![:)]

 SheBantamPaula,

Staying at Turkey Swamp Park NJ for two weeks. When I called the park ranger stated that there was no one reserved for the 7-19 of Sept. Looks like I will be by myself.[:)]

whitestar505That is just a little ways from me.  Where is your training?

whitestar505Our local S.P. is close enough that we can drive from it to work in 45 min, so we have popped up the camper during the week and stayed. Drive to work in the morning and enjoy the evenings at camp. Wonderful!
 Go for it![;)]

 aldebnjaldebnj,

I will be going back a forth between Turkey Swamp park and Fort Monmouth. I am still working on details. Have not made reservations yet  but getting there. I know from talking to park ranger that the whole park is open for Sept so I have time yet, I hope..[;)]
