What do you think of the set up?  http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=79590  I like it but it may be to big.

Here are the roll up tables that have been discussed, but is the price good?

There is a smaller kitchen set up in the catalog we received but it was not on the website for me to show.  It opens to 44x18 1/2x30 1/4, closes to 11 3/4x5 1/4x 31, at the cost of $49.97.  Made out of same stuff as the big kitchen just smaller and no sink area.

I would like to get something for outside because that is where I cook, so far I have just used the picnic table or coolers.  Leaning toward the smaller set up, but like the sink area in the big one.

NCSunshineI had a sink in a previous camping life, about thirty years ago, and found that I did not like it as much a dish pan on the picnic table was much more conveinent for me and took less work to clean. The whole camping kitchen was much to heavy once I put things in in that I felt I needed.  They probably make them lighter now. I have a retangular folding table that sits next to my stove and will fold flat on top of the bed,  a long thing that holds a pair of shoes in each level hangs from the AAR middle support and holds paper towels plus other things. I have no idea what it s name is but it cost a dollar at a dollar store.  I also bought a three shelf unit by Rubbermaid that can sit on atop of a counter inside or outside next to the table to hold canned food and pots and pans.  It has to be handled carefully when laid on the floor to travel as it comes apart easily.

NCSunshineI like the looks, but the sink doesn t impress me. We also would rather have a dishpan. My major worry is the unit is steel not stainless and I ve seen a lot of them get really messy from rust after a year or two.

NCSunshine

NCSunshineThanks for the heads up on the NON-STAINLESS steal, didn t even catch that.

In one place it says " steel wire grid side shelves" , then in another place says " constructed of high-quality aircraft aluminum" .  Would that make any difference?

PopupSgt

NCSunshineBeing that I m in the Air Force I work with high quality aircraft aluminum on a daily basis.  This type of aluminum is very strong and lightweight, if this device is truely of high quality aircraft aluminum then it would be very strong.  I wish it would label the grids as stainless steel instead of steel, steel seems fishy like it s a carbon steel which will rust.[:D]

PopupSgtThanks for your help.  Might call and get more info.  I like the small version of the big set up, which is like one side  and the top rack off.  It is the same cost as the large roll-top table.  Would really be happy with either one.

NCSunshineI think it looks pretty cool, I would also probably not use the sink.  It seems to me it would be best for someone with a seasonal site - you just never know how much room you ll have at different campgrounds to set up such a big unit.

NCSunshineI have a camp kithchen like the one in your first link.  Its great!  The quality is good, its lightweight yet strong.  They have one similar at Cabelas that has canvase storage bags under the side counters.  Same construction and material although the additinal items make it a lot heavier.

NCSunshineI just bought one like the kitchen in the first link except mine doesn t have the sink.  It s VERY easy to set up and take down and it appears to be well made. We haven t used it, yet, but intend to this weekend.

The wire shelving is steel (for strength) and is painted white. I don t know how durable the paint is, but I guess I ll fid out. The rest is aluminum.

I bought mine locally on close-out for $70. Now s a good time to shopping for deals on this kind of stuff.

QuoteLooks good, but the one at Cabelas is only $99.

Check Sams Club, I got one without the canvas storage or sink, but the same basic kitchen for $59.00 plus the 10% fee for not being a member (go to service desk and get the magazine and there is a coupon for a shopping trip where the bearer pays the 10% service fee for not being a memeber). Delaware does not have sales tax.

NCSunshineI think if you can still find them at Sams Club you ll be really lucky! I ve been through all the local stores and they only seemed to have the initial supply of them, they are no longer stocking much camping gear as they change their stock over to fall/winter type of stuff.

 Gone-CampingSigh ..... You guys ara bananas ......

The kitchens are great but reminds me how far away from these things we are, yet. Oh well, Picnic table tops are good enough to cook  for the time being.
