Ok folks, we ve had worse, but dang it, it s HOT!  109 degrees yesterday, and 106 expected today.  They say we are going to cool off next monday, when the high will only be 99, and we might get some rain.  Here s hoping it doesn t evaporate in this heat before it ever hits the ground.

I know we ve had hot days, but we broke a record yesterday, and were only three degrees cooler than Death Valley.  This too shall pass, but this is my equivalent of all the northerners complaining about snow.  For our family, it ain t camping season right now, we ll hold out till Labor Day probably, because its just too hot.  August is about the only month we won t camp down here, so it definitely has its benefits to suffer through the heat, but darn its hard to remember how nice those fall camping trips are going to be when it seems like even the asphalt is sweating, and it s 84 degrees when you walk out of your house at 6:45 in the morning.

startx[:@]We will be leaving here on Sunday to go to Texas.  I alway bring rain [:o]so look out,  The rain will be coming.  My Daughter-in-law says it never rains in Texas UNTIL YOU COME>  I haven t seen the sunshine yet in Texas.

startx

startxYEAH!  Can you stay like a week?  We could use it, in addition to the heat, we are way behind on average rainfall.  Any chance you are coming to the DFW metroplex area?

Mahaffey-Family

startxI will be in Killeen, Texas. (my son is stationed in Fort Hood, Texas)  About two hours from Dallas.  Maybe it will rain so hard it will come to you.  I will do my very best.  I will be there a week.

startxIt has been raining nearly every other day in S central NC, so I would love to send you all the rain you need.[:)]

startxMy brother has an Air Conditioning and Heating business in Dallas/Fort Worth and he loves this weather[:D].

Turn Key

startxJust got back in about 30 minutes ago (2 pm).  Dang, it s hot!!!

With our work schedule we re usually asleep by now.  Decided that since this is our weekend and we haven t done a thing in about forever, it was about time we got out and got the dust blown off of us.  Went into Ft. Worth and checked out the new Cowgirl Museum.  Can t say it was high on my list of " must sees"  but DW has been wanting to go.  Turned out to be rather nice.  Had some pretty good multi-media displays and some nice western artifacts.  Think I was most impressed with the sculpture in the main rotunda.  It s a bronze of two mounted females riding in opposite directions.  One is dressed in turn-of-the-century riding habit and riding side-saddle.  The other is in full western garb riding a standard western saddle.  Really shows a striking difference.  If you get a chance, check it about.  They are opening a whole new display area tomorow.

 Anyway, stay cool!

startxI hear ya about the heat. We had 24 days of July that were 100 or above. That is hotter than it has been in the past few years. And now with the dog days of August upon us it looks like it won t be getting any better. The good thing is my lawn has pretty much died and I won t have to mow in the 100 degree weather! I refuse to water the stuff, and told my neighbor he better keep his water on his side of my driveway! [:D] Of course I also told him he was insane for watering and then having to mow. [8D]

Gatsmommy

startxSo you mean it s not only us implants that are dying in the heat... I ve learned one thing though, being pregnant, in TX, in the summer is NOT FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![:@]

Ok, now I feel better too, even though I m sitting here sweating in the middle of the night with my A/C running constantly

startxThe rain is pouring here today.  But, Like I told you get ready it is COMING.  I always bring it with me. You will see the clouds moving in on Sunday.  Because here we come.

startxHey! Make sure you tour on down to the TX Gulfcoast (Victoria) we need a break from the heat and need some rain too. After just having been through Hurricane Claudette, you d think we had enough but water evaporates fast in 103 Heat!. Funny thing is we actually went camping last weekend when a strong SW wind kept the temps down? to 95. It was hot but we had to have a camping fix. (Our new a/c on the PU worked great!) I did get tired of my glasses fogging up every time I stepped out of the camper into the lovely high humidity.
We have a camp schedule like startx...camping is from late Sept to early June. We like to camp in the winter months best. The word snow is not in our vocabulary, Hee Hee!
 Sign me...waiting for Octorber!

Starcraft Dad

startxNo 100 degree weather here in MI.  Lows tonight are between 56 and 60.  High of 79 tomorrow.  BUT, the snow is getting closer[:@] and then we will wish we were down your way.[:)]

startx

startxYEAH Mahaffey-Family!  I think it rained over the weekend while we were gone, and then it rained last night.  The high today is to be a muggy 87, but that is way better than 109!  It rained!  I don t have to water my flowers, and its not so hot!

Mahaffey-Family

startxWe are in Texas.  I am glad we could bring the cooler weather to you.  It is very nice here.  I was very happy to see my son, who is out shopping with his dad.  No, they came back home, I need to run.  But, when you need a cooler weather just let us know.

Diplomat

startxIt was 112 here today, Yucca Valley was a cool 102!  Can t complain, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines in Iraq are putting up with 120+ and wearing a neat kevlar sweater that s supposed to keep the bullets away and a cool camouflaged helmet to top it off!  No AC for those folks to escape to either.
