I know that the school start and finish dates vary greatly on this board, that being said, in Ontario the kids go back to school the Tuesday following the Labour Day long weekend.

There is an annual two-week long fair called the EX or the CNE or the Canadian National Exhibition.  It s a fun event to visit as it has midways, shows, games, vendors, food, performers and lot s to see.  It s being going on for 125 years and it marks the end of summer as it wraps up Labour Day Monday.  The EX will be starting this weekend, so we only have two more weeks of summer left[:(].

Luckily, camping season goes into October, so not all is lost![:D]

 fivegonefishingTammy,

Summer is almost over!!!! Where do you live.  If you look at the cal. 21 Sept is the day we switch from summer to fall. If you really want to know the truth about the Labor day cut off for summer, it means no kids in the camp grounds and lots of room so you can pick your own spot. The old timers come out of the woodwork. [:D][;)]

Better put this in here? Just kidding!!!!

whitestar505That s a good point, gives me one more thing to look forward to for when the kidlets are grown and on there own...in what...25 years[: (][;)]

fivegonefishingOur youngest starts college [:(][:(][:(] (no more baby).  She starts on Sept 24th, but all the regular schools start anywhere from the 19th to 28th of August.

I guess that makes us some of them " old folks" .  (That sometimes has a nice ring
-- camping whenever you want and not having to worry about school conflicts-  there are some nice things about getting old[;)][;)][;)][;)])

That s no joke!!  We have no small children and vacation in the fall often.  The crowds are cut down to almost nothing during the week. We had a whole CG to ourselves in WV in late Sept. Gotta love that! Fall vacationg is great, cooler weather for hiking and  a nice night fire that s not to hot to sit by.

fivegonefishingAND maybe no more bug bites[:D][:D][:D]

fivegonefishingAs far as camping in the summer it ended for us last week. DD starts school on Friday (the 15th) and since I work in the local alternative school I had to be back to get new intakes done and such so our summer really ends early.

However, we do have labor day planned for going to the lake. And then for sure during fall break (Oct 16-17 and throughout the weekend following). I want to get a few trips in during the winter just to see how the ol cabin keeps warm in the winter.

fivegonefishingI think all of the above are reasons many people including me like to camp in the fall.

Wow..she starts late! My son starts back on the 25th of August!  He s actually going back this weekend though.

It is nice now though not having to worry about kids in school. We always plan one of our long vacations in the fall after the kids go back to school. Actually,  the other long one is in the spring before they re out!  LOL

 I just love fall camping!!

fivegonefishingWe ve had a weird summer, first getting some work done around the house, and after that it was sooo hot and sticky for a while.  I have knee replacement surgery coming up on September, and was hoping to get lots of things done prior to that, but the arthritis is so bad that I am really in a lot of pain from it, can t get around very well and can t wait to get the new knee.  As a result, camping has been pretty much a difficult thing for now, and we haven t camped nearly enough this summer.   Usually fall is my favorite time for camping, but it looks like that won t be happening either.   And deer hunting in Nov.  remains to be seen.   I s pose I ll have to be content with the thought that next year will be so much better, but that s a long ways away.   Thanks for letting me whine.

This March my mom had her right knee done, and in June she had her left knee.    She is only 59!  She said there is no comparison, even though the healing process is slow for her, what she is going through now is nothing to what she went through before the surgory.  Things will get better.
