Got my DSL installed.   Not that anyone really cares, but I thought I d update you on the adventure that I had when I tried to install the DSL.   It seems that in the middle of the installation my cd-rom died.  Nothing to do with the installation process, just dumb bad luck.   I took it in to Best Buy, had their tech guys look it over, and they advised me to put in a new cd-rom.   As computer stoopid as I am, they could have talked me into buying a whole new computer, but I guess they didn t realise that.  Or else, as I prefer to believe, they are really nice guys.   Anyway, I decided that as long as I was putting it in, I might as well get a cd burner and the salseman/tech, Andrew, took me over and showed me everything that they have, and helped me find the best value.   There was a big rebate on it as well.   I also opted for some more memory, and he dound something in that category that would give me most of my money back.   Two days later, it was ready for me to pick up, and the tech on duty advised me to get the cds that were relatively inexpensive to get started with, in case I make mistakes trying to figure out the cd burner.   I brought it home, hooked it up, and proceeded to install the DSL, no problems whatsoever.   On top of that, the cd burner turns out to be very user friendly, and I have burned some cds with photos for family members.   My biggest job is going to be getting the pics I ve been saving in my documents, onto cds.   I feel like such a whiz!

wiininkweMarcy, if I want to print a picture from my cd, do I have to save it first on my computer and print from there?  This is actually my biggest reason for wanting a burner, so I can clear all the photos out of my computer.

To print off a CD
Open what ever photo editing program you are using . Have your CD in the drive and select that file off the CD just as you would if it were stored on your HD. Not much different, just it s stored in a different place. Double check the print size. The pixel size can make a picture huge for printing. Change the size if necessary.
Select print and you have a photo!

wiininkweMy favourite upgrade was my burner. I create VCD s that can be watched on your dvd player. Your burner should have that program. You make a slide show from the pics and add titles and music and voila a great way to show off your pics.

wiininkweToni, found this site on the web.  It lets you make a slide show with music that will play on any DVD player.

wiininkweOh you are going to be addicted now! I think I enjoy making labels for the cd s more than burning them!! So now you must get yourself a cd labeler [:D]

wiininkweLittle bro, I knew that you would show up to ask about food!!!    Where were you when I needed advice about this dang thing??  HUH?!  Probably out camping, which is where I wish I were.  Anyway, give Peggy my love and c ya later.  I have to go looking for a cd label maker.   Actually, the cd burner came with a cover designer program, but the on line manual to it is 42 pages long, it looks a little daunting.  Maybe I ll wait til I am recovering from my surgery and have plenty of down time to read it.
